New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

If the folk running the club got started now then we could have an unofficial singing section in place for next season. Long-term the club needs to actually give fans a reason to cheer and sing if they want a good atmosphere. But right now, a semi manufactured one will do. Get one section of fans singing full pelt all game and everyone else will follow.

Tbh singing in itself isn't really the real answer either. Years back the best atmosphere Goodison ever had was when we'd have the guttural "Goodison roar" where everyone was just doing their own thing at the top of their voice and it was a wall of noise.

Not enough fans have been willing to be honest about the ground. It is a genuinely top tier ground that we as a club are managing the matchday experience of terribly.

Going through metal detectors to get onto the site is just insane. No other ground in the UK does this, it creates artificial queues and doesn’t exactly enamour fans with the experience from the start.

Same with the turnstiles, somehow they have picked the worst ones I have ever gone through.

The concourses are dire, both in appearance and function. Looks completely unfinished, little to no branding etc, the food and ale situation is again the worst I have seen in a ground, nearly impossible to get a drink at half time or before the ground which leads to the ground being half empty from about 35 minutes onwards.

The seat unique partnership has been a disaster, large areas of seating are still empty game after game.

Add into that the football is so boring and uninspiring at the minute then the atmosphere isn’t ever going to compete with goodison. When it gets loud it is great, genuinely deafening. But expecting that to be the norm is unrealistic when so much else is wrong.

Sort out the above and it will be one of the best grounds out there.

I'm hoping the club see this and rectify it in the Summer - it isn't a massive undertaking to improve. Going the game is like two different experiences, the amazing bowl with perfect views of the action from all over the ground, but to get to it you've got to pass through the characterless, concrete concourse.

Agree with that. It feels like a work in progress and I hope it is. There’s a lot that can be done. More tellys showing whatever game is on or even sky sports news would be a no brainer too. Everyone gathers around the few that are there now leaving big open spaces in some parts and mass gatherings in others. Usually close to toilets/exits/bars where space is limited anyway. If the club want to get people in and spending money, they need to make those spaces more inviting.

there is no difference between the atmosphere at goodison and at the new stadium

stop peddling the false narrative that goodison had a "boss atmosphere"

so boss that we only won 5 times there last season

It's marginally better at Hill Dickinson, but almost as quiet as Goodison.

Respect your opinion but I disagree with a lot of that, I've never had too much of an issue with the metal detectors but they are an irritant, my understanding is it's regulations

Turnstiles have been quick, early queues have settled down, concourse has had ongoing work to it and there is way more branding with I'm sure more to follow, the space is amazing compared to the park end and I've always found it quick to get food and drink, toilet situation is similar to the turnstiles in that people have worked out there are alternatives and it's much better - maybe it depends on where you sit

Seat unique for me is still overpriced with it being the first season, am expecting prices to drop after the first season, I took my mum to domingos for the Sunderland game and it was amazing, really great experience and like it or not it brings in big money for the club

It's a great stadium technically when you're looking at the pitch, but opposition fans saying it's soulless aren't that far wrong.

It's not built for the fans. Match day tickets are too expensive and season tickets are only going to go up, football on show is uninspired mostly, the food and ale costs too much and there is genuinely plenty of other things wrong.

This doesn't mean that one day it won't feel like home, but right now it's just where Everton play, not Everton's home. Sure it's probably better on the financials and match day income because of inflated prices, but when you see so many tickets on resale struggling to shift you begin to understand why a 60k+ stadium would have been a huge mistake.

More to it though. Most arent going to sing if no song is being sung. Many feel uncomfortable singing if theyre surrounded by people who dont want to sing. Or if the song is too much in the distance for example.

The new stadium has seats highly exposed now, you don't have the brick roof of the lower gwladys hiding you when you stand up and shout abuse at the ref or starting a chant.

I'd settle for a screeded roof. My God, it still looks tawdry.
