The thing is, we cant have it both ways. People have moaned and moaned for years that we're rubbish commercially and being left behind but the reality is this is the alternative. I've seen so many people who definitely complained about the old ways now complaining about increased ticket prices, food costs, 4th kits etc. Where do you think this improved commercial performance is going to come from if not these things? This isn't to say I like this type of thing by the way, but I haven't been cryarsing about the commercial department for the last 10 years either.

Good point however it’s a balancing act, if you are to grow commercially then that has to be reflected on what happens on the pitch.

They can’t expect for current supporters and to attract new ones to consistently sell products and bring in more revenue streams with constant talk of “stability” and mid table satisfaction mindsets.

The club has to grow on the pitch as well as off it.

There's a difference between expensive donuts and worthless crypto, though. There are ways and means of raising commercial revenues and they are not all equal. This is very disappointing, and very American.

No I agree, like I said I'm not saying I like it, but this is what improved commercial performance entails (obviously not necessarily crypto specifically but this type of thing). It's like in some people's heads improving the commercial side meant someone coming in and using jedi mind tricks to convince the biggest and most prestigious blue chip companies to make up the shortfall by giving us enormous sponsorship deals, when the reality was always that it would involve getting in to bed with anyone who would make it worth our while and fleecing fans for every penny possible. You can't be the people's club standing as a bastion of morals and ethics and also be the market leader in commercial performance in a sector where this type of thing is rife.

Yup. Nobody would bat an eyelid at crypto nonsense if we were excellent on the pitch, had two serviceable full backs, and could take more than two points in total from Wolves, Brentford, and Leeds at home.

As it stands, the Friedkins seem far more successful at attracting international rugby and football games to the new stadium than they do attracting European football to it. If we were spending this new income this window, you'd say fair enough, but as always with Everton the message is "jam tomorrow." Come summer, the World Cup and lack of European football will inevitably be trotted out as reasons for why we, once again, find the market "difficult". This is the third Friedkin window. So far, they have only been active in one. Dress it up as you like, but that doesn't scream ambition and it certainly doesn't suggest the on-pitch side of things is a priority right now.

Not doing anything at all in the transfer window, when we were only 1 result off the European places, is a total lack of vision and ambition.

Why wait till the summer when there's no guarantee it will be any easier then.
