He has never won a single thing Nd was sacked by Sunderland and sociedad and jumped before pushed at West Ham

His record at Utd was shocking

When he left us he tried to get Baines and Fellini for 15 mil and suggested we were wrong to deny them their move

The guy is finished as a manager

He wasn't sacked by Sunderland, he left by mutual consent and then Sunderland nose dived into league 1.

Disgraceful, entitled blues denigrating the achievements of David Moyes in this thread.
I'll tell you this we were finished before Moyes came in. Administration was a whisker away. Our chairman told us we had nothing. There was no Sky Deals and Everton had narrowly escaped relegation in the 90s.
We'd become small time. That's right, a laughing stock. That man took us from nowhere and gave us some self respect back. Season after season with no money we managed 4th,5th 6th,7th. In my eyes he was perfect for us at that time. A time of austerity.
The way he left us was unfortunate and could've been handled better. However he'd been very loyal and respectful to us throughout his tenure. A hard Scotsman that came from Preston North End for crying out loud. Yes he won nothing. Yes his teams bottled the very big games. Yes sometimes his tactics may have been too cautious.
Could any of you have done better though with what he had. I thought as much...
He ain't right for us anymore for sure. We all move on don't we. However look at the state of us with all our money.
We are pathetic.
So show some class and don't pull him down. The fella did good and I'd shake his hand in thanks if I ever met him.
Great post mate, we have been a mess since he left, can understand some having a bad opinion of him during the first Martinez season, when it looked like the School Of Science was back, but recent years have shown we have been much much worse under easier circumstances since he went, and its now obvious what a good job he did do.
Yes he is finsihed as a manager, but his time with us cant be looked down upon.

But most people are judging him here and now.

I was a massive Moyes fan and hes without question our best manager for the last 20 years, but he would be utterly horrific here and now.

Agree on this, he might be better then Silva but still not good enough and has nothing long term about him, he wouldnt want it anyway

Why so mate? The one thing Moyes seemed to excel at was managing in a crisis. We've been that was for about 5 years now. I think he could be a good fit. Particularly if there's not a lot of money knocking about.

Hes very damaged goods, hes not the same manager at all.

I do wonder about this a bit you know. Sunderland were a basket case, the fact he got them to be broadly competitive was a decent effort. He kept West Ham up last year, with next to no money when they looked gone for the wind, that was a good job done. He kept Sociedad up, defeated Barca, was doing ok until they moved him on. Even United have taken 3-4 years to look like they have finally clicked post Ferguson. I am not sure he's half as bad as people make out.

But the whole landscape has changed, theres no Artetas for 2.5m, no Cahills for 1.5m, even your John Stones cost 20m+.

Moyes bought some very good players for very little, he also bought some very bad players, his mistake punts would hurt us more and his bargain hunting wouldnt be as effective, given the market currently.

Hes a decent manager, light years ahead of EVERYBODY we appointed after him, but I dont think he would be able to do as good a job as he did.

We would certainly be harder to beat.

But I think his time is done.
