Moyes or Glasner?

Who would you prefer as Everton manager this month?

Would you give Moyes at least until 2027 and then reassess from there? His track record deserves it no?
We dont need to. We know his pattern very well right now.

He'll more than consolidate us; the question is though is that enough? Cup runs make the difference when considering that question IMO.

Can't think of many managers who have never failed at a job. There are too many variables. Key players getting injured or having some non-football related issues that cause them to lose form are two of the more obvious issues. Especially at smaller clubs who don't have a bench full of internationals these issues sometimes are irreversible. And death spirals can be very difficult to stop once team loses its belief.

So solely looking at when a manager has failed takes you nowhere.

Conceded as many as Wolves this season.
His recent comments after their game at United were interesting when he said i dont mind if we concede 4 if we're also scoring 4. Its exciting.
I certainly think we'd be fun to watch under him lol.

Bournemouth seem to have that mentality almost regardless of manager.

But I think he has them as a fighting team and they dont give up...unlike this Moyes Everton outfit.

Glasner is a one dimensional rigid manager, he’s married to a system and wants and needs a small drilled squad to do it.

That won’t work beyond clubs like Palace and Frankfurt - where the pulse hasn’t been racing in a while or at a bigger club with a bigger squad, thus he has a ceiling. Ultimately he’s a one dimensional rigid philoseiy manager.

Hope he ends up at Spurs.
Like has been pointed out he’s played different systems at Different clubs, actually im not that fussed on a rigid system if it fits our players. I’d rather that than having a 6ft 6 CB at RB, central midfielders wide and in the 10 role, a crap left winger constantly getting picked to play on the right. Imagine having a manager that actually plays players in their right positions

If we'd won the cup last season and were currently below Everton in the table, there would be questions asked.

Essentially, Palace (with a better team than us last season) finished one place above us and are currently a place below us.

They had an impressive run of form, but the wheels look like they've fallen off and on top of that you cannot have a manager speaking like that on television.

If Palace hadn't won the cup, this wouldn't even be a discussion point.

Absolutely not

McKenna is a name I’d look at for sure.

But times have changed since 2004 when Moyes first came in, I think we could also look at European leagues also.
Oh I agree 100% mate but certain posters on here seem to think that we will play it safe and they (TFG) won't ever do that.

Disagree, I think he’s very rigid.

It’s not working in the long term at a club above midtable. He doesn’t want the ball and also can’t manage big squads.

What’s his head to head record with Moyes like?

Most managers would speak like that when they have had their captain sold the day before a game and most of their best players sold out from under them. Moyes took plenty of pot shots at the board last summer when we were not getting players in quick enough for his liking.
Palace also never built on that cup win which is just weak tbh. Parish is a poor chairman who is happy to make up the numbers and collect up the money, I feel a bit sorry for Palace fans tbh.

Legacy at Wolfsburg
  • His 1.87 points per game average across his spell placed him among Wolfsburg’s most effective managers historically.
  • Although Wolfsburg hadn’t won a major trophy under him, he restored competitiveness and European qualification, raising expectations at the club level.
Legacy at Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Europa League success is the standout milestone — arguably the most important in the club’s modern history.
  • He helped re-establish Frankfurt on the European stage, proving the club could compete with elite competition despite Bundesliga inconsistency.

As for Crystal Palace, well, he won them the FA Cup.

I think Moyes is like a warm comfort blanket for them and us mate. He will eventually get us back to where we are when he left, the longer he stays. I personally won’t be surprised if he signs a new contract in the summer.

I think the task of replacing him is huge, given the model we’ve put in place and autonomy/authoirty we’ve given him.

I think it’s a huge and difficult decision and I think here is a tough gig - but I’d like us to be a bit braver - then who is the vouge Martinez pick in the PL at a lesser club at the time. Or go the opposite direction of the sage old safe hands or an Ancelotti, Allardyce or Dyche.

We also need coherence in continuity - by that I mean not jumping from style and philosophey from manager to manager change for change sake in term of identity. I.E Moyes - Martinez- Koeman etc.

It’s a huge decision and we approach it is key - we should have a shortlist now!
