Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

We were supposed to go to Greece in 2020 but we all know what happened that year. I hope to make it in the future.

Obnoxious Americans are abundant all over the world ?

I have met loads of sound Americans here and on my travels. Probably the most idiotic was a lady in a hostel in Salzburg in 87 who asked me, when I said I was Irish, what it was like to live in an East European country :)

Looks very appetising Blue. Caramel ice cream sounds good too. I'm cooking Chinese tonight. Diced chicken with sesame seeds, yung chow fried rice and mangetout in Oyster sauce. Cornish Strawberries and clotted cream Cornish Ice cream for afters.

The rice is cooked and chicken is marinading in an egg white and cornflour mixture to make it soft and velvety. Quite labour intensive this one with lots of prepping and cooking, but it's worth it in the end. Just finished my daily stretches and toning exercises so about to pour myself my first G&T and make a start on tea.

Have a good evening everyone, whatever that entails. Been good fun on here today. ;)
Enjoy Fred sounds really tasty . When are you following your neighbours?

My favourite destination in Europe Sass.

When we were younger we used to island hop with just a back pack. Think we've been to about 65 different islands but now we keep going back to Lindos in Rhodes . We are off to Skiathos next week. Lovely island but we haven't been for 10 years or so.

Our intention was to do a bit of hiking but yesterday Mrs J sprained her ankle and can hardly walk!

I'm sure that we will still go but it might be a pure beach holiday instead with us just chilling out.
So much history and architecture to witness thus it has been a country I’ve always wanted to visit.

65 different islands, wow. Lucky you!

Oh no, im sorry that Mrs. J hurt her ankle. I have twisted mine a lot of times throughout my life. I would recommend acupuncture for it. And while hiking would have been nice, a pure beach holiday still is pretty enticing so enjoy it!

Morning all. I love this thread. Hoovers and innuendo with a bit of casual sexism thrown in. ? Has made me proper laugh this morning. Dad has had first dialysis session and is still in hospital. Another one scheduled for tomorrow. I'll probably go to Liverpool early next week and stay for a few days.
I'm very excited. I'm going out tonight. Out out. In Durham - to a pub with beer and vodka and pork scratchings. This will involve wearing shoes and make up. I'm meeting up with some of my friends who were old Trade Union colleagues in my previous job. A night of drinking and talking leftie bollocks with mandatory chips on the way home awaits.
Have a great time getting all cute and ready to go out tonight, Ange. And tomorrow when you are recovering from your hangover, make sure to explain to me what are pork scratchings ?

Glad to say I feel tons better. Legs still a bit weak as I haven't been able to walk more than 20 yards for several months. Must get out and about. Managed to drive into Maidenhead yesterday (about 10 miles) and visited some friends and did some shopping. Her indoors is now on morphine and we have MacMillan nurses booked, so still some cloudy skies about.
Reading that your are feeling a bit better made me very happy. Hopefully your legs strength will improve so you can start walking more in the coming days. I’m sorry about Mrs. M and the cloudy skies continuing your way.

Morning all, hope all is good with you and special shout out to your hoovers as well ?

Rain here has spoiled my plans to cut the hedges but can’t say I’m disappointed as I’ll be glued to the election coverage. Could be a big day for us lot.

Think I might nip out for a pub lunch today as well, still mulling it over. Should put it to a vote here really ?
I have been reading about Ireland’s elections and how Sinn Fein is poised to become the 1st Irish nationalist party to lead the government. How are you feeling about that prospect?

Delighted Sassy, I am a strong advocate for Irish Unity and this is a huge achievement. It is making headlines everywhere which is befitting the significance of the day.

I'm having a very lazy day today after my escapades yesterday. Had a good day actually, going out about 10am and getting back around 5ish. Got the local bus into Falmouth and was pleased to discover the cost of a return ticket had reduced from £4.50 to £3, one of the schemes that Cornwall has levelling up funding for. Had a nice chat with an older couple who were on holiday down here and funnily enough staying at one of the NT properties Cal used to look after. It was a lovely sunny day. Went for a hair cut first as it was starting to look a bit poncey. Then had some brunch, a few beers at a couple of old haunts of ours and also took in a movie. When I got home the neighbour knocked and asked me around to theirs for a couple of drinks on their sunny patio as they were heading back to Southampton and their boat today. Then went home and cooked myself a delicious Thai green curry, knocked back with a glass of nice Argentinian malbec.

Surprised myself by being awake bright and early this morning and playing Pink Floyd videos on my phone at 7am. lol
Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday, but it seems your lazy today turned into a yummy Chinese cooking adventure lol

Make sure to hire a car as the public transport system outside of Athens is really poor - a mistake I made when we were there was for once not to hire and we found it really difficult to get around the Pellopponese which is lovely. Ironically it was the first holiday in decades when I didn't hire a car
