Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all. I love this thread. Hoovers and innuendo with a bit of casual sexism thrown in. ? Has made me proper laugh this morning. Dad has had first dialysis session and is still in hospital. Another one scheduled for tomorrow. I'll probably go to Liverpool early next week and stay for a few days.
I'm very excited. I'm going out tonight. Out out. In Durham - to a pub with beer and vodka and pork scratchings. This will involve wearing shoes and make up. I'm meeting up with some of my friends who were old Trade Union colleagues in my previous job. A night of drinking and talking leftie bollocks with mandatory chips on the way home awaits.
Hope you find your Dad improved next week. Enjoy your evening.

No. That was only on the mezzanine bit in the Baby Elephant Anj. The main pub was old hat.
My Woolton friends were 19 going on 45! We went in the main pub. I drank Blue Nun or dry martini and lemonade. the boys drank brown mild. All good SFX and St Eddie's boys. I thought once you got past 16 you were too old for the Baby Elephant ???

Was there such a thing? Ha ha.. Don't think we ever played St Eddie's as they mainly played rugby. But us St Margaret's lads used to enjoy our footie games against SFX. Always feisty affairs.

And as regards the Baby Elephant, I think I am taking about when I was 16/17. We graduated to the Bodega bar on Quarry Street from there IIRC. Remember that?

Yes. I liked it in there. We also used to go into the Coach and Horses or go to Gateacre and drink in the Gateacre Park Hotel and The Black Bull. Then I discovered nights out in town and it all went downhill from there! ??

Every Friday night i used to go out with my mate from school, a lad called John Ayres who used to live on Halewood Drive in Woolton. We'd always start off at the Gateacre Hotel and then move on to the Black Bull and Bear and Staff. Went to the Brown Cow once but then always gave it a miss for some reason. He was always a bad influence on me and got me into all sorts of scrapes. Complete nutter but a good mate and we had some good times thinking back. Lost touch with him when I finished school, think he joined the RAF and moved away. Funny how these little memories come back to you.

Hells teeth Fred We must have been in the same places at the same time. We used to go in The Bear and Staff as well. I'd forgotten about that one.
