Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Yep all those places plus Seahouses on our list. Anywhere else we should see. We are thinking of staying a bit inland at Otterburn that's not too far to those places?
Otterburn is good but there is quite a big army camp there. Lots of shooting practice. I've never been but many people I know love Cragside. Morpeth is a pretty place and they have a shop there entirely dedicated to cheese. Keilder reservoir and forest are good. However you do get adders there so if you take the dogs keep a lookout for them!

Where about's are you going G?. We stayed a week once in Sheringham just outside Cromer. Lovely part of the world but a total bugger to get to from Liverpool.
Staying in Hunstanton which is not quite so far round the coast as Sheringham. We often go to Sheringham for day trips also Wells next the Sea. My Dad’s Mum was born in Norwich but the family were originally fisherfolk from Cromer and Overstrand.

When we stayed in Hawick in Scotland we travelled over to the Northumbia coast for the day. Visited Lindesfarne, Bamburgh Castle (or Bebbingburg as I now call it) and had lovely fish and chips at Seahouses. Would recommend all 3. It was a long day but glad we went.

The borders are lovely. We stayed in Peebles a few times, and like you, drove to the coast. It was like seeing Scottish RU teams (in the olden days) as we went through small town to small town.

When I say we stayed in Hawick, I exaggerate. It was abut 6 miles south of the town and a cottage in the middle of nowhere. It was owned by one of my old clients, a really charming Liverpool barrister who inherited it from a distant relative. He and his family used it for holidays. He didn't normally let it out but offered it to me for a week free of charge. Obviously I couldn't accept that and after much deliberation he reluctantly agreed £50 for the week. He should have paid me to go. Let's say we left it a damn sight cleaner than we found itlol. And we daren't go near the outhouses, the spiders were like tarantulas, not to mention the family of adders that reside in the surrounding undergrowth, or should I say overgrowth.

But apart from the property itself being very remote, it was, as you say, an excellent base to explore. Hawick itself was a charming town and in addition to our trip to the East coast we also travelled upto Edinburgh one day which we really enjoyed. Also, we've never seen so much wildlife as on that holiday. It was brilliant. Fortunately not the adders though.

I was lucky enough to work for a Scottish insurance company for years, Standard Life. And they bought a ton of cottages in Peebles as a place to lob all their files in the event of a nuclear strike in the 50s. Obvs, that didnt happen, so they let staff rent them for a pittance once computers arrived. Marvelous place. I would move there tomorrow.

Good spot my mate, wait and bleed it is :)

Morning all, bloods this morning, got to leave D on her own which she hates, hopefully I won't be out long enough to destroy the place lol
Excellent song, great album. One of the first gigs I ever went to was them in the Manchester Academy touring that album. I want to say 2000…

Presumably you are moving closer to your daughters M. If so, it'll probably be worth the hassle giving what you and Mrs M are going to go through in the near future. Hope the move goes as seamlessly as possible. The ones we had a couple of years ago were very good and jumped through hoops for us and took a lot of the stress out of it.
We have got similar removal men, really excellent and as you say takes a lot of stress from the situation.
