I haven't seen them live unfortunately, really looking forward to the new album, if it is anywhere as good as We Are Not Your Kind I'll be a happy maggot.Excellent song, great album. One of the first gigs I ever went to was them in the Manchester Academy touring that album. I want to say 2000…
Beautiful morning down here too AT. I can't believe that it's Friday again. I've never been a routine sort of person, especially after I retired and more so since I moved down here to Cornwall. But this G&T Friday has become a bit of a vigil for me and since I started I've noticed how quickly time is just passing me by. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.Morning all and a beautiful one it is here with clear blue skies.
Relegation eh? We could take a big step away from it with 3 points on Sunday. Celtic v Rangers as well so the bars will be busy with no work on Monday.
Speaking of which, while in Donegal last weekend I nipped into a bar to check the football scores. Quickly realised there was no TV. What I did find though was an 82 year old bar man who greeted me on entry and talked the leg off me. He had loads of Irish historical memorabilia around the walls which he of course gave me a guided tour of with commentary.
2 pints later as I was leaving he invited me to call back in that night as there was music on. He added that he was part of the band and that he played every night in life.
An absolute force of nature ?
Have a wonderful day mate.Beautiful morning down here too AT. I can't believe that it's Friday again. When I was out walking the other day I came across a guy selling fresh fish out of the back of his van which he parks on the edge of the village. I'd heard from others that he's been coming here years and has a steady clientele. So I bought some mussels from him. I had asked for muscles but he was completely out unfortunately. Anyway, although I love mussels, I've never actually cooked them myself, so I'm a bit nervous. I've seen chefs do it on TV lots of times and I have a good idea so we'll see how it goes.
If the weather stays as nice I'll go for another walk this afternoon so watch out for the pics. I'm thinking of taking a different route out of the village that I've never done before, which I'm hoping will offer a decent view of where I live. If it's nice enough I also may stop for a pint of cider in the local on the way back.
Hope you all have a good day folks. Hope the move goes well M and your tests turn out OK Blue. Hope the new level of pain control starts having a positive effect T. Happy G&T Friday folks.![]()
That sounds like a wonderful day Fred. You are putting me in the mood to end my lunchtime walk a bit early for a light refreshment.Beautiful morning down here too AT. Cheers Jazz. Forgot to mention, bought some strawberries in the local store the other day. They were from the Tamar Valley apparently, your old stomping ground. They were absolutely delicious. Not cheap mind at £4 a punnet but I don't treat myself very often these days.Have a wonderful day mate.
I could do either but am going to do the traditional one tonight I think as I bought some cream especially. I won't use the cream in anything else. That sounds like a wonderful day Fred. You are putting me in the mood to end my lunchtime walk a bit early for a light refreshment.
Mussels are dead easy to cook, hardest bit by far is getting the broth right and that may take a couple of attempts until you figure it out. A Thai broth is more forgiving than a Mariniere I have found myself!
When I was Belfast based for work I used to love getting into the Asian supermarket, none near me now though.I could do either but am going to do the traditional one tonight I think as I bought some cream especially. I won't use the cream in anything else.
When I was in the Asian supermarket town the other day I found these dinky small tins of coconut milk which would be ideal for mussels.
Not too many down here either. One in Truro where I was earlier in the week and another in Penzance where they do the frozen dim sum that I like. Some stuff I still need to pick up whenever I'm up in Liverpool though. Whenever anybody visits I always get them to bring a bottle or 2 of my favourite Malaysian chillli sauce. When I was Belfast based for work I used to love getting into the Asian supermarket, none near me now though.
Chippy Fish Supper tonight for me I think.
