Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I`ve already decided what I`m going to do with it.

I`m taking the kids to the panto at the St Helens Theatre Royal on Sunday, they collect loose change etc at the end of every performance, for the restoration of the interior ( which is shabby ). I`m going to donate it to them.

Looking at the handwriting, it looked like someone elderly, what a lovely thing to do.
That's perfect

Big Christmas gatherings like mine today are the real circle of life. Those who were the life and soul of it 20 years ago were in one room with the drinks and food served into them. The main room had an age span of about 35 years between youngest and oldest, late teens to late 50s. Running amok were a herd of kids aged 13 to 4, meant to be humanely contained in a room with games consoles and toys but instead preferring to run and scream. I discussed this dynamic with one of the Oul Hands, as they had the football on in their room, and their sage take was the kids will always remember a big family at Christmas and the rest of us have something to talk about in the pub in January 😀🇮🇪

Hope everybody had a great Christmas.
I walked off yesterdays excesses this afternoon around Carr Mill Dam (the largest body of fresh water in Merseyside no less) It was a beautiful afternoon with clear crisp air.
(I did stop at a few benches, just to see if anybody had left a Christmas card, but alas no 🤷‍♂️)
Enjoy your night at the Theatre @COYBL25 (I've been known to tread those boards myself, though I believe there is no plaque erected to commerate the occasion.)

Wasn't it a reservoir at one time ? We used to love riding on our bikes to visit as the buses didn't go near enough

I must have posted this but it is nice to remember my best xmas was me ,the wife and the wife's sister with her husband just sitting by a log fire ,him playing his cello and me singing carols -the odd one in Finnish ,gentle amounts of booze ,ample food and a warm atmosphere .No TV ,no records or radio just the four of us . It had that magical it could be any time anywhere aura.

You should reply ‘ Oh , what age do you think I am then ?” , with a tight smile on your face and a glower in your eyes. That is inspired by a lovely conversation I had with an elderly couple at my wife’s choir’s Christmas concert. We were discussing the best way to ask someone their age , and I said “Always go low . Start with something like “ Well my friend is 70 and you look younger than her “” . They smiled , we chatted and the lovely lady said the inevitable ‘ So how old am I then ?” . Turned out she was about to have her 93rd birthday and he was 94. Makes me smile just writing about it 🙂
That reminds me of when I took (dragged) my son on a shopping trip. I tried a pair of trousers on and in search of a youthful opinion I said to him - are these trousers age appropriate for me? To which he replied - well it depends on what age you want to be mum.

I had my daughter, them aged 4, with me in the changing room with me. 'Does Mummy look nice in this?' Reply 'You look like poo'. She's never changed- very forthright opinions🤣

Good morning all on this blustery one for us .I hope all had a good night and have a great day today .
I am busy trying to find a cd player and amp as our old "music centre " has given up the ghost . How complicated things get when you search on the net ,I found what I think will do us ,then realised a bit more expensive would be better ,then the reviews on YT turned my head to another great product but that didn't match the other so I looked for a better other which brought me to a superb -not my words - find to once again realise they are not compatible on with the search and hey presto I found it ! Now I just have to find three times the cost of the first !!!

It’s unbelievable that they used to ice skate on it in the 1800s - now it doesn’t ever seem to get cold enough.
Fen skating has become a rare occurrence. When my Grandad was young, going skating was a good day out. He had kept his skates, we found them when we cleared out one of his many sheds. They were little more than blades with thin leather straps for ties. Health and safety🤣
