Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Very , very wet here in Italy. Despite the torrential rain we took the train to Erculano and visited the ruins.
They are incredibly well preserved and very impressive but we got drenched and found out my waterproof wasn't.
Weatherso bad out train broke down on the return and we all had to wait on the platform with no cover for the next one. That struggled with the conditions too but we just made it back as they were cancelling all trains.
More weather like this for the next 3 days!
Ah well.
What a bummer mate. You've been so looking forward to that holiday too. I'm sure you'll still enjoy it but everywhere looks so much nicer when the sun is shining.

Evening everyone from a very soggy Sorrento.
Yet another day of unremitting rain and squelching through puddles in wet clothes.
So, apologies to @Gwladysover but I couldn't be arsed taking a photo in the pouring rain today.
Anyway had an excellent lunch and a fine bottle of red and remarkably now after almost 48 hours of rain , its stopped.
Fingers crossed the next 2 days look OK before 2 more days of thunderstorms.
Have a lovely evening everyone.
Remarkable that it's stopped raining or that you found a fine bottle of red in Italy that you didn't need a mortgage for lol

Got it all happening today, grass cutters here, people cutting down trees everywhere.

It has definitely dropped in temperature, have got my dressing gown on during the day and I don't usually, makes me feel a bit ashamed not working and wearing a dressing gown during the day makes me feel a bit of a dosser lol I already feel people judge me not working. I wish I could, it's crap being home all the time and broke.

Tell you what don't half see a lot of roadkill these days, mainly seagulls and pigeons but saw a squirrel today, hedgehogs get squished a lot and mice. I don't think a day goes by where I don't see a fresh squish, not very pleasant.

Quiet in here today, everyone's on hols are they.
Mate I'm not in the slightest bit surprised at your own feelings about not being able to work. it's a sign of your character which is absolutely brilliant in my opinion. And you shouldn't even think about other people's opinions of you. The vast majority would be totally understanding of your situation. And any who aren't are just ignorant knobheads and not even worthy of your thoughts.

Rant over. I came across all Anj then.lol

Starting to cool down back end of the week… got to be honest these 36 everyday for the last two weeks has come out of nowhere! Not complaining as we haven’t had a hot summer here since I’ve been in Botswana
Wow. Isn't Botswana southern hemisphere?. I thought you were still coming to the end of your winter over there

I didn't know you had small fridges there. Most of the US, if not all of the US, has about the same size fridge whether it's here or Alaska. Germany has the same size fridges as the US. Why do you guys have small ones? (I mean fridges that is lol)
Most of us have small kitchens V. If we put one of your fridges in them we wouldn't have room for anything else.lol

Been a busy 2 days for me so a lot to catch up on in here. Went to see Cal's ashes again on Sunday, this time with her brother, and then went for a couple of pints with him. Afterwards I went to see an old amateur football mate in Speke. He has dementia which I put down to his football. He played open age football from 16 to his early 40s and at his best was playing semi pro in the Welsh League. He's 75 now and has been suffering for about 3 years, which is too young for that illness. Pretty sure there's something in this heading theory. Anyway, I'm happy to say he hasn't got any worse since I last saw him in January. Said one of his grandsons is 17 and still on Everton's books. Charlie Fisher, not a name I'm familiar with but to my disservice I don't keep upto date with the youth team thread these days.

Yesterday was a proper planes trains and automobiles day. Had to be up early (for me) to get the 7.30 bus to South Parkway, and then 2 trains to Manchester airport. Then the flight to Newquay where my neighbour picked me up at the airport. He was in a foul mood. His accountant had apparently cocked up costing him extra tax, and he spent the whole journey home telling me about it. He was still going on about it when I went round to his a bit later for tea. His wife said to me I'm sure he told you all this in the car coming home to which i replied It's my own fault, I asked him how he was. lol

Well he thought that was really funny and luckily he cheered up a lot after that. We polished off a bottle of wine with the meal, of which i drank roughly two thirds, and then started on the cognac watching the England game. So much for an early night and starting on the wagon. lol That starts tonight. No more alcohol for me. Well until the weekend at least. ;)
