Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

They say the closest to English is Dutch but the easiest to learn is Spanish for a Brit .Here the Scottish do well as the way they pronounce words is very similar to the Finns . The hardest language for Brits using the same alphabet is Finnish ,just my luck ! I did Spanish to o level at 46 ish in one year but the teacher was really hot ,so she had my undivided attention :dodgy:
I don't think I would tackle something like Finnish or Greek they look mental to my eyes lol

Morning everyone ,

Lovely start to the day today but lots of rain coming in later.

Billie Eillish ? Not for me @Barnfred 55 , watched 10 minutes of her show and then played the Lotus Eaters and Human League!

It's Open Garden day in the village today but we didn't want ours to be included - far too much pressure to get it looking perfect for the hordes tramping around.

It's bad enough getting it ready for next Friday's visit of GOT royalty. lol

Have a good one.
Apparently the ease of cajoling him corresponds to the distance from a gin bottle .

I watched a youtube clip of an American lass who now speaks Japanese and Mandarin fluently to the point where walking down streets in Japan she knew if people were talking about her, her accents were spot on and everything and this is what she used.
It is so personal ,my wife speaks four fluently and a couple more she gets by with ,her godmother spoke 13 but only 9 over the phone ! Some are just gifted ,I heard of a man in Sweden he spoke 23 languages ---and he wasn't Swedish he was from Africa .

Probably biggest moral dilemma for me. And I ground this by saying I have never raised a daughter but madly in love with the woman I married.

I have a strong Catholic faith and abortion is just about the worst thing in our doctrine.

I haven’t walked the shoes of a family who has had a wife or daughter the victim of assault and I can’t even comprehend the scenario. It’s a belief I hold strong but I’m out of my depth when life dictates a travesty.
I completely understand where you are coming from AT. I grew up in a staunchly Catholic environment but and was given the same message. What concerns me most about this legislation is that it is so anti women. Men appear to be absolved of any responsibility. I've read that in some states, and @Sassy Colombian might be able to confirm, that if a women has a miscarriage, she could be sent to prison and terminating an ectopic pregnancy could also result in criminal proceedings. That is just so wrong.

Also the blatant hypocrisy of some of the politicians astounds me. Take the utterly vile Jacob Rees-Mogg. He's Catholic. Staunchly anti abortion and I respect that, it goes with his faith. However the same man voted against free school meals during lockdown and appears to be happy to let migrant children drown in the English Channel. If you are pro-life then that doesn't end when the child is born. You have to support the child if the parents cannot or are unable to. All children. It is also not in line with Catholic teachings or what Jesus said. My favourite passage in the bible (possibly Matthew's gospel) is when Jesus said about the sheep and the goats - when I was hungry, you gave me food, when I was naked you clothed me. That, and George Orwell's Animal Farm have probably shaped my whole philosophy on how I try to live my life.

Have a good day guys, its patchy weather here on off rain and sun not sure where me n Daisy are walking, I was going to go for a brew at my sisters but have to wait for a text to see if she is up to it.
Syrup of figs! My Mum always gave us a spoonful every Friday night to keep us “regular” ?. Hope weather clears and you and Daisy are able to get out for a walk and your sister is ok.

We have been out nearly 90mins, weather is crap but rain just held off. I cancelled my sisters didn't trust the rain but we went just as far in the end anyway.

I always get out in a morning at 9ish G no matter the weather, it is my obligation to the little swine lol She was a pain this morning, constantly complaining she didn't like the way we were walking(she sits down).

I'll be having a gander at that free language app @blue1948 posted for me later. Feeling a bit tired today for some reason.

It is a disgraceful situation, in my opinion. My very strong inclination for women of America would be that if they cannot take control of their body/womb then they can control sex and should all abstain until sense returns. Womens rights groups outside of America should campaign to relocate women who do not want to be told what they can and cannot do with their body by a judge. I am fairly sure that the males advocating for what has just happened or those silent on the subject would soon find their voices.

Are you drinking enough water, T? Dehydration is one of the leading causes of constipation.
