Macca a great song writer of all time .......
I went to see this at the pictures, it’s now added to my bucket list of things to do. I like a brass band. Those banners and pics are amazing. You need to come to the Durham Miners Gala. Loads of the old colliery banners on display and marched through Durham accompanied by brass bands. It is a great day out. Usually have some good speakers. Heard the late great Bob Crowe (RMT General Secretary) speak a few times. Looking forward to this year - first year back post lockdown.
Was just thinking the same Joey.Macca a great song writer of all time .......
It is an amazing occasion. A real celebration of the working classes and a sad reminder that none of those pits are open anymore. I did voluntary work for Unite In The Community for a while. That was based in the Durham Miners Union HQ. I used to love having a cuppa with the ageing but still feisty ( and who could drink anybody under the table) former Miner's Union officials who still organise the gala.I went to see this at the pictures, it’s now added to my bucket list of things to do. They're very good in fairness AT. I'd recommend you record it, or what's left. The sound quality is excellent.I love McCartney but not the biggest fan of the Stereophonics after they refused to support the Manics at a gig in Wales. They got way above their station.
Have seen them maybe 4/5 times at festivals and Dakota is an absolute belter of a song.
UDM creeped to Thacther & she still closed their pits .....It is an amazing occasion. A real celebration of the working classes and a sad reminder that none of those pits are open anymore. The BBC series Sherwood is about the anguish of the UDM ......only seen one episode- packed with great actors ...I went to see this at the pictures, it’s now added to my bucket list of things to do. I like a brass band.

And I went to Stocko, a good few years after he was there, George Harrison also lived in Speke, so you lived in Western Ave Fred?Just enjoying some McCartney on Beeb2. He's 80 today. How do you feel about sharing a birthday with him T?
When he was young he actually lived in the same road I grew up in. His mum was the local midwife in the days babies were still being born at home.
Me too mate. I was probably there between 66 and 72.And I went to Stocko, a good few years after he was there, George Harrison also lived in Speke
McCartney attended Stockton Wood Road Primary School in Speke from 1947 until 1949, when he transferred to Joseph Williams Junior School in Belle Vale because of overcrowding at Stockton.
That’s wonderfulHere’s one of his miniatures about 4inches high.View attachment 170452
