Happy anniversary. Hope you have a lovely day. xMorning all. Happy Father’s Day to all mascoteer Dads. In the long hot summer of 1976 the 19th of June was the last day it rained for 10 weeks. I know this because it was our wedding day. Nothing special planned but we will walk down the path of the church where we married, something we have done for the last 46 years. Don’t need to go far - it’s only round the corner. lol Have a lovely day all.?
Well you're a Boss fan , I'm not so he wouldn't make my top 5 let alone 3.Hi guys. Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. Bit of a lazy day today. Did overtime and now watching the darts - only because Mr F was watching it and has now fallen asleep on top of the remote! the birthday discussion on Paul McCartney started me thinking about who folk think is the current greatest living songwriter. My top 3, in no specific order, would be Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. Macca doesn't make the top 3. I thought he needed John Lennon, to be at his best. Most of the stuff he's done later has been a bit meh ( with the exception of Live and Let Die and Band on The Run). just as an aside, had he not died last year, Jim Steinmann would have replaced Bob Dylan. What do you all reckon?
The weather's not too great here today. @Gwladysover I remember that long hot 1976 summer. I was doing my O Levels ( in those days I was a smart arse and did them a year before I should have. Big mistake but that's another story) I spent the summer sunbathing in the garden or watching cricket. It was brilliant.
We do celebrate our anniversary. We've got into a bit of a habit, since the kids grew up, of going away for a few days around our wedding anniversary (October 19th). When the kids were small we would go out for a meal - taking them with us, so we had many a romantic meal out in a Wacky Warehouse or other such establishment with a play area! lol

My argument was based on statistics. If you're asking for favourite writer that's completely different and much harder. I'd probably have to say Ian Curtis. He wasn't prolific obviously but his music was so meaningful and literally from the heart.I guess it starts with artists you really like, hence folk like Dylan, The Boss, Van the Man dont get a mention for me, despite me liking plenty of their stuff.
Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond were/are geniuses to my ear.
But my absolute favourite writer/lyricist is the late Bon Scott. A poet.

Back in Black?Bon Scott wrote most of the largest selling album by a group, ever. edit (not including Best Offs etc)
Dolly Parton wrote by a mile Whitney Houstens biggest seller.
Not a clue about Diamond though.
