Curious as to whether the Jubilee is a big deal over there? Are we doing the street party stuff or is it just a free day off celebration more?

Bit of both as far as I can see. Most towns round me are doing sommet, and I read that quite a lot of streets are closed for, I assume, street parties. The Mall was packed earlier for HM on the balcony, (never understood that), and Brian May et al are doing a thing tomorrow.

But a big deal? Not really. Just an excuse for some fun and games for most. Remember her silver one, 25 years iirc, and as a kid, living on an estate, the street party was brill. But as a knarlled old get now, largely passes me by. I guess I am not the only one.

Even if he was obscured by a massive statue/monument to Queen Victoria??! Maybe they had screens up, but on The Mall, you cant see the balcony ffs!

Fair enough, displaying my ignorance of London there. Have been there for work a few times but only really know Liverpool.

Speaking of which, haven’t been since Bernard 1-0 Watford in 2019 and praying for favourable fixtures in August. Gotta plan matches around school holidays etc

Went on unlucky 7 all night. Then on the 8th and last race I doubled up and it came in. Then there was a bonus race and I had the winner in that . Then I won first prize in the raffle. So from being the butt of friendly jokes I was quids in within the space of 15 minutes. A good night. The club was a bit of a dive (but not compared to the Cabin) but just like the Cabin it's the people that make it. I'd only met them once before but by the end of the night they were calling me by name.

Being given your name is a big thing I think. Yeah we all have mates we wave at every day and all that but someone greeting you with your name is immediately warm.

Tomorrow is a big fund raiser when I do the animal's charity stall at Ormskirk market - fortunately the weather forecast is good for that.

Morning all, bit cloudy at the moment but forecast is for sun later. There are very few street parties here and not much bunting either, jubilee largely passed us by but Peterborough does have a reputation for apathy, not that we carelol. The council came in for some criticism from our MP regarding the lack of decoration round the city but considering they can’t spend money on flowers for parks etc. I don’t see why they should spend our money on a few flags for a couple of days. We were invited to meet up with son and family at Wicksteed Park today. It’s part traditional park/part theme park and about 30 miles away but Mr G. didn’t fancy driving. So have decided to do weekend shop today instead of tomorrow, that coupled with the fact that our bin day is now Thursday not Friday , it’s a four day bank holiday which is at the end not the beginning of the week and old age, not sure whether on a**se or elbow. You know what Blue. I very nearly replied Lucky Fred to the above post. Ha ha. That's 2 Je suis Freds I've avoided in as many days. I must be getting good at this posting lark. ?

Only just woke up and not too great. I also invited the neighbours around for drinks later which I'll probably regret unless my hangover shifts.
