Martinez wants to sell

I don't know if we are in for McCarthy but if we are then we have to trust the manager. Does it really matter if no one else is in for him? Does that make him **** because only us want him? Who wanted Cahill apart from Everton? Palace. Who wanted Arteta? No one. Who wanted Jagielka? Who made a serious bid for Fellaini apart from us when we signed him? No one. Now they were all Moyes signings but Martinez is just starting out and maybe we need to cut him some slack if he does for McCarthy because a player doesn't suddenly become great because loads of teams go for him. Fellaini is an absolute one off footballer so there's no comparison. But if he does get McCarthy with or without the sale of Fellaini then the young lad deserves our backing because he won't dictate the transfer fee ( just as Fellaini didn't when he signed and was ****ged off as being pretty **** by a good majority of Blues ).

That's fair enough from Martinez, I have no problem selling our players for a good price, it's a sensible move. Anything over 20 million pounds for Fellaini is still good money, considering how Martinez will want to use him. What would not make sense, is spending the majority of the money on James Mcarthy. While I like Mcarthy, he is not in Fellaini's league. I can only hope we have some different, cheaper and better options lined up.

and herein lies the problem.....you want to sell felli for top money yet you want a replacment just as good but cheaper..... how does that work ?

It's only what Bill's been asking for 10+ years now.

Eventually this tactic will catch up with you. All it takes is to sell a couple of your best players then replace them with dross, leaves you with no way of generating funds to improve the squad.

I'm nitpicking here, but....if we hadn't bought jags, another 3 or 4 prem clubs would've been in for him

but I agree with your point as a whole, it's martinez' turn to show what he can do

and I for one reckon he'll do alright x

On the point of Mcarthy not being all that based on no interest elsewhere - what does that say about Felli and Baines?

Only Moyes has approached ergo they must be complete leathers worth 5 quid a piece!!

(btw I know nothing about Mcarthy he may well be poo)

The way I understood it, it's all moot UNTIL the bidding club comes in with a valuation that matches (or comes reasonably close to matching) Everton's valuation of a player.

Once that happens, then we'd have to seriously consider it but if the player is considered too valuable to let go of, then the decision is made to keep the player.

I don't see anything happening at all in the next week unless Manchester United come back with a bid in the region of 25M to 30M for Fellaini alone.

Until that happens, he'll continue to ply his trade for Everton.

All he's saying is that at the moment there's nothing to consider because no one has met the player's valuation. If someone does then there'll be something to consider. I'm going to trust him for the time being and believe that he really doesn't want to sell him. I certainly don't believe that anyone in football would actively be seeking to replace Fellaini with McCarthy.

I think McCarthy will be here soon and thats ok by me. But i see Fellainis departure as a chance to bolster the squad, McC and some other signing too. But like ive said several times already...IF Felli stays thats awesome and im happy. Win win situation really
