Martinez wants to sell

He's not going to promise the fans that Fellaini and Baines will be staying when, if a high enough offer comes in, we're willing to sell. As he said they're important players and we're not going to give them away. But anything is possible.

Fair enough if he wanted to take the money for Fellaini, but he'd better have a firm idea in his mind about how he plans to replace our second best player. None of this going back to pillage Wigan nonsense again either, I'll be disappointed to the say the least if we got McCarthy in.

I don't think he's particularly entrenched one way or the other to be honest. Fellaini is a bit of a one of them where you think, ok, he's quite unique in what he does so he can be an asset to any team, but will the club start to fall apart if he is not here? Probably not.

That's fair enough from Martinez, I have no problem selling our players for a good price, it's a sensible move. Anything over 20 million pounds for Fellaini is still good money, considering how Martinez will want to use him. What would not make sense, is spending the majority of the money on James Mcarthy. While I like Mcarthy, he is not in Fellaini's league. I can only hope we have some different, cheaper and better options lined up.

The thing with McCarthy is this - Virtually every team in the Prem has had at least 10 million to spend this summer. Southampton and Cardiff have bought £10 million+ midfielders and other clubs have paid big sums for players - West Ham, Norwich, Swansea etc. Yet (as Owen Coyle confirmed the other day) there hasnt even been an enquiry for McCarthy. Says it all for me.

he might not be interested in mccarthy though

He'd better have his options lined up or he's not doing his job. Simply closing your eyes and hoping you don't lose them is suicide.

Having said that if it's McCarthy....well...

Exactly. I think there was a purple patch for him a couple of years back when there was supposed interest from Liverpool and United but it all seems to have fizzled out. If we swap Fellaini for McCarthy then we'll be far worse off for it.

Agree

well I know it's just based on your hunch,
but hey if he wants to sell, he's our manager now and if we're going to give him a chance we're gonna have to trust his judgement

felli's been here what 5 years ??? we've still won nowt so if it's his time to move on then let it be, only for a good price of course

I'm in no way having a go at felli though coz I think he's a cracking player and would love him to stay but if our manager thinks we can do better without, then let's see if he's right ...

This 100%

again, agree totally. All these couch pundits doing an amazing Kreskin and trying to mind reading RM. We don't know what he is thinking but ,(and more importantly), we can see what he is doing. Everton IS evolving playing-style-wise

"They sell me for much money, maybe is good for Everton."

Felli confuses me...I think it's cause he has that NEA thing about him. Don't know whether he wants to stay or go. I'd like him to stay, if he can keep his work rate up consistently, cause he's a beast when he's up for it.

Martinez does not want to sell but knows he has little choice if the right amount comes in. Hi Bill!!

Yesterday when he was asked about Bill's reaction to the joint bid he all but said he wasn't happy because the amount was too low, not because he doesn't want to sell.

I think he means what he says that he doesn't want to sell but what if someone made a ridiculous offer? Bill won't let him turn it down!

Look at AVB, saying Bale isn't for sale at any price and now it looks like he's off for way more than anyone could've dreamed. To be honest, if I was AVB, I'd feel a bit of a tit. Though I would have lovely hair.

I think your hair's lovely just as it is now, really voluminous and manageable xx
