Martinez - Thoughts So Far?

It's not even the point of poor strikers they just don't get the correct service cause were so interested in passing the ball about annoying!

We proved last year we could play pass and move, though.

Moyes used to panic too often and get us going more direct, but it's not an alien style to us.

From the back to past the halfway line I'd have to disagree with that (ie. alien style)...that's a lot of ground for things to go sideshow circus and it has, just not as much as I was biting my nails about.

TO WHO????????????????????????????????

Loving the fact people put a price tag on a striker who cant score a goal..

Sell him? id release him on a free if it was down to me, buy out his contract and let him save the training grounds oxygen.

well you are obivously a wum, so your opinion doesnt matter

He was isolated the entire game. He never stopped working to sniff out a chance but he literally had no chance whatsoever. The build up play was too slow, too often.

Too many people on here are like "DUHHHH WE DIDNT SCORE LETS AUTOBLAME JELAVIC DERRRP".

I agree. this isnt down to jela.. aven RVP would be **** with how we play these days.. we badly need more support to our striker

Wouldn't say that was true mate to be honest you look at jela his movement is awful nowadays, good strikers create their own space and give the midfield an option.

If there's 20 yards of space between the striker and the midfield and the striker is man marked and there's a bank of four midfielders in between you and the ball, then Jelavic could have the ability to teleport five yards and it'd make no difference.

The build up is far, far too slow because we're over-thinking it in possession. This will fade in time as we get used to the system but I'm starting to wonder whether the sale of Fellaini and two or three additions on deadline day in attack and midfield may speed that process up.

Last game he was offside every farts end, today he couldnt hold the ball up and wait for another player.

Hang on Hang on..... are you saying we should stick with a striker with 5 goals in the last 40?

Agreed its not all jela's fault but he's been poor for a long time now. If your telling we would be having the same results with RVP instead of jela I think your talking nonsense.

Truth. Mirallas couldn't even hit the target with two golden heading opportunities served up on a platter in the first half, yet Jelavic had to feed off scraps and he gets all the opprobrium? pyay al arse dat lads.

Correct.

Against teams like Villa last season (away) we played the best brand of pass and move in the league and scored goals, creating chance after chance. We could also mix it up with direct play. That's no coincidence.

I do think as a defender, you have two basic choices.

You can sit deep (which means that you're vulnerable to long ball, because the forward can win the ball near the goal but you're unlikely to be caught with ball behind your defense and a fast striker beating the offside trap) or you can play a high line (which means you're vulnerable for a ball played behind your defense for a fast striker to run on to but a big man winning headers is no threat to you.)

Last year, spurs for instance, absolutely identified us as a long ball team (because when Man U played a deep line we bullied them rotten with aerial balls to fellaini). They played a high line to stop the ball to fellaini and gibson spent all game making them pay for that by floating long balls behind their full backs to mirallas and pienaar.

The worry is that there's no chance of that happening again because everyone knows exactly what kind of team we are and how to stop it. It's probably not a coincidence that nobody has tried a high line against us, this season.

Pienaar and Mirallas aren't performing. They are our most creative players.

Barkley can pick a pass out to split a defence. 20 yard balls, great. Pin pointing a through ball in the box...no.

Why he doesn't play Pienaar in the middle I don't know.

****ing Martinez got the Moyes subs-syndrome.. dont make a sub until its too late!
Oh, and stick with ur favourites.. Like Osman and Pienaar.

FOR ****S SAKE! play the best ones at all times! **** Osman and Pienaar off, and get Deulofeu and any other ****er in !

Pienaar was one of our better players today.. and he usually puts in a good game. Don't know what you're watching to be honest.
