Hands up who knew what was going to happen this season as soon as this was unveiled in August ????

*puts both hands up*

Haha got to admit I did have an inkling.

My very first thought upon seeing it was "ohhhh confidence like this never ends well for Everton..." lol

Let's look at it another way:

The first season was electric, no question we advanced as a club. This season has been nightmarishly poor in the PL but we have torn up some very decent teams in Europe.

Can that even be dreamt of as a situation you sack a relatively new manager under?

Not for me, not in a million years. Kenwright is well within his rights to stand by Martinez and give him next season.

This mood here tonight is all down to some perceived embarrassment in front of a national audience...the fact is we reached further than any team in Europe.
No!

I think Martinez does deserve another season to turn it around. So far we have had 1 good season under him and 1 bad season but he needs to stop lying to the supporters and insulting our intelligence with some of his statements and he needs to stop being so arrogant about his bullsh!t philosophy. To move forward Martinez, the board, the players and all of us as fans need to admit that this season has been a disaster.Being stuck in the arse end of the table and bottling a great chance to get to the last 8 of a winnable european competition is a disaster in my book anyway. Were Everton and this seasons efforts are not good enough for a club of our stature.

  • I blame Dave Whelan, the crafty leg breaking at Wembley Wigan supremo he must be laughing his c*ck off tonight thinking about all the money he made shipping us his dud manager and various crocks of sh*te.
Martinez should be Sacked before leaving the Ukraine
Martinez got the starting 11 and tic tacs wrong AGAIN
Tonight's Martinez excuses will be individual errors, luck, posts etc
Just fcuk off Bobby Bullshit & tell us what we know "I don’t work on having a good defensive record to win things."
Anyway I'm not fcukin interested in what that c**t says anymore unless it's goodbye

"Boooo we didn't win the Europa League....people watched us on ITV4 and will laugh at us.....booo hoooo...sack the manager....boo hoooo"

And next season we'll start it with Roberto as Everton manager.

You're rattled. Your WUM-ness is usually more refined than this.

You've basically threw out an empty line hoping for a bite here.

So much wrong with this. Moyes took us to pens of the same stage of the conpetition that Martinez has just rocketed us out of. He also got us to a cup final, Fa cup semi and league cup semi. Yes we had a poor cup record but don't make oyt this year has been a brillisnt European trip, it hasn't. Insipid away at Lille and Krasnodar, poor at home v Lille and Krasnodar, lucky Young Boys were shambolic then bottled both ties against Kiev. Wolgsburg is the only anonaly. The Villareal, Fiorentina and Benfica sides Moyes lost to were a class above anything we've faced. Kiev were average yet Martinez bent us over and made a movkery of us yet again with a ream selection that popckrned every single fan who tubed in. He is a fraud and an embarassment. There were many low times under Moyes but he never treated us like idiots.

Would gladly take Moyes back, regardless of what's happened.

Here it is...

Mentions Lukaku's equalizer and then just skirts around the issue of Alcaraz and the rest of the defence. Journo plays right into his hands by backing down and asking him about the positives of the experience. He doesn't have the humility to come out and say they bricked it, and to say it was unacceptable. Goes on about potential, while ignoring the immediate present.

Genuinely sick of you stuttering 'kneejerkers' as descriptive, it kinda cheapens the opinions that people have or have had that - get this - have been formed over time.

You're clearly knowledgeable RE your footy David. Just not sure who it is you actually support TBH mate. Facts, figures, stats...whatever. If you can't see it then you not lookin'.

And I genuinely wonder if you are looking or are remotely even bothered. He's now verging on utterly inept, how can it be viewed any other way?

Played Sir...Doffs cap.

If Martinez gets sacked which i very much doubt it put Joe Royle in Temp charge till end of the season and then address the manager situation in the summer when we have more time. The thing that worries me is if we lose Mirallas, Coleman and even Lukaku would you trust Martinez to bring in top players.
I would buy Coleman a train ticket if we got a decent bid for him. He's been awful this year. Mirallas hasn't been any better. Frankly the only players that I fear losing are Barkley and especially Lukaku. The rest have been very poor all year.

"Boooo we didn't win the Europa League....people watched us on ITV4 and will laugh at us.....booo hoooo...sack the manager....boo hoooo"

And next season we'll start it with Roberto as Everton manager.

And next season we'll be in a relegation battle and out both cups.

He doesn't deserve a decent job anywhere.

He'll get one though

If we go down, he'll resign, take six months, and then come back to a good job elsewhere

It'll all be spun that it was unlucky and that the players he inherited from Moyes weren't good enough or some other stuff

The media will focus on the 5th place finish and the FA Cup win

Meanwhile, our depleted squad will be scrapping in mid table of The Championship, with Phil Brown or Tony Mowbray as our manager

My opinion on Martinez has not changed for a long time and he does nothing to make me want to consider changing my opinion on that he should leave.

For as well as we played last season doubts creeped in during the run in after the Arsenal game, we collapsed started to struggle defensively and eventually finished 5th, the run between march and april was a massive factor in us finishing with a record points finish but when that momentum was needed most we faltered.

Fast forward a few months towards the world cup and we knew almost nothing about our potential pre-season, did he plan anything early? did he only think of his responsibilities to espn? No one knows but last pre-season was horrendously put together and more than anything pushed us further back in terms of the way we was performing.

Thats carried on all season and even in the europa league although we played better at times anyone who can look at the Wolfsburg games and see how we were incredibly lucky to not concede many goals is looking at it with blinkers on.

His tactical decisions at times are baffling to put it politely, his favouritism of certain players (much like moyes) is incredibly frustrating and stubborn and his ability to set a team up defensively is beyond belief. You look at Wenger at Arsenal he is very much the same and has always had the same stigma about him since his unbeatable side. Compare them with a Ferguson and a Mourinho and you see why the latter have been more successful, they adapt to other teams they play the way needed to win not the way that pleases them and to be a top top manager that is needed, even Guardiola knows at times you have to consider the opposition you play whether to play fast or slow, direct or short this is what separates from Martinez he doesn't seem to know and that includes when fans are screaming at him and the team to change things up.

Ever since he joined i always said although he wasnt my first choice i would back him, the problem with this is i can't back a man i don't believe. Everytime he talks i hear false hope, twisted words, trying to be positive when positivity is not needed. The europa league was his temple of peace this season and not that it has ended with a loud bang every bit of scrutiny will now be re-directed firmly at the league form and final position.

I personally have said before i wouldn't trust him to rebuild a squad and that still stands, his history with money and designation of wages is very shaky to say the least and if past history is anything to go by then more than likely the team is only going to slowly decline as his wigan side did over time, could you really imagine a future were we have a martinez built defense that is capable of regular clean sheets? He struggles enough with a defense that was largely Moyes created and built with the intention of being hard to beat.

As said before i thank him for an enjoyable 1st year but its just a case of counting the days now until Kenwright see's sense. The next manager is going to be close to a situation Moyes had in that the team is going to have a number of aging players left over with little money to improve and a handful of our better players seeking teams or being approached by teams in a much higher league position than us.
