I think the thing that turns fans off him the most is his outright lying. We all know he doesn't really believe the crap he says to the media, so it comes across as treating the fans with contempt.

People say "oh, why do you care anywhere, press conferences mean nothing" etc. - but we're fans, we're supposed to care about what the club says and does. Having a manager offer up verbal diarrhoea like a kopite every single week is irritating.
I haven't watched a single interview of his for about 6 months, I mean its a small gripe really, his selections have become boring as well, he will be itching to get naismith back in an all, the only thing that stops me outright calling for his head is that I do think he has a vision for the long term, whether he has the balls to put in in place I seriously doubt

You don't think Martinez is deserving of criticism?
If you search through my posts I have said he is at fault, I have said he has been stubborn,I have also said I hope he learns from some of his mistakes - which I think he has in certain areas.
My point is that wanting him out is very misguided as with a club like us, we need time to build and strengthen area over time.
If we start getting shut of managers after a mediocre season, we will be going down a very dangerous path - look at some examples of teams who try the manager merry go round.

I do miss Moyes' miserably honest pressers. Martinez talks more [Poor language removed] than that Bizzaro.

@davek
we got the odd one with moist as well, the clattenburg derby, when he stormed off just because someone asked a question about big vic, ripping Rafael. With Martinez the press must feel like they are doing volunteer work visiting the elderly, nice fella an that but no one really gives a flying about his boring stories

We are a big club. This pauper tag is just being used as a shield for Martinez. You have a listen to other clubs fans on our spending this season, I'm sure most of them would have been looking at a £28m striker coming in and been very jealous. Do you think Stoke, Swansea or Southampton could ever she'll that money out on one player?

This season Martinez undone any bit of good he had achieved in his first season. Many managers come into a new club and do well first time, it is a very common occurrence. Also I think something that gets forgotten about under this miraculous event of Everton moving up a whole place from 6th in 2012-13 to 5th in 2013-14 is Martinez absolutely blew 4th when it was in our hands. We demolished Arsenal, went to Sunderland and put in a poor performance but still claimed the three points and then for some bizzare reason he drops McCarthy and we lose to Crystal Palace at home. Another strange decision was bringing in Robles when he'd been having a rough patch for an FA Cup quarter final. At such a stage in the competition when you're one game away from Wembley, why make that stupid decision?

Last season was not all roses, subtle signs were there and people need to remember that. This season has just magnified his decision making.
McCarthy had pulled up looking injured in the previous game (Sunderland), irrc he complained of a tight hamstring. Since he had played almost every minute of the season plus Ireland games the fact he made it through so much of the season without being injured was a minor miracle.

Anyhow aren't you one of the people who say we don't need two defensive mids in a game at home against lower table opposition?

Most clubs chop and change managers, I think after Wenger it is Rodgers who is the longest serving manager.

There is no room for sympathy in football. Tim Sherwood got Spurs within 3 points of us last season and was sacked. According to some on here you'd think Martinez had restored world peace. Football is cut throat, if you're not good enough then you're gone.

If you noticed I said his Premier League career, he managed to make Wigan worse year on year. He never once addressed their defensive woes, that's funny as well, hasn't that been one of our weaknesses this season?

We haven't finished 10th yet, West Ham better our score by a single goal on the weekend and we're resigned to the bottom half. That doesn't make it a victory if we managed to scrape 10th either, it is complete under performance no matter how you try and spin it.

I'd love to know how you know the ones who want him out are in a minority. Plenty I know seem to have had enough, matches them boos we have been hearing at Goodison Park for most of the season. For the sake of this thread, direct your attention to the poll at the top.
Wigan - where he was forced to cut spending and still managed to give them their one and only trophy?

Defensive woes - wasn't last season our best defensively for years?

The poll: which hasn't been reset after the last fumeageddon and would now be reading about 85% Martinez IN if it had been?

You have no hand to play here. Martinez has won silverware, laid the foundations for another club to develop from nothing to an established PL club, and gave Everton their best PL points total.

Yep, all that sounds like a man who cant manage and you like a man who has a firm grip on football reality.

He was on the bench for the game, he should have been played. You always start with your best 11, if he needed to come off further into the game then fair enough; As it was he had to be brought in as a sub.

Last season it was working with Barry and McCarthy, our attack wasn't toothless. Barry and McCarthy together last season were brilliant, this season Barry has sadly been a liability in most games.

I don't understand the benefit of being unrelentingly positive tbh. It gains nothing if praise is given over so easy. I'd love him to start just laying into one of our players one day.

As opposed to be unrelentingly negative?

...

OK mate.

Ah the old 'won a trophy' argument, let's get Alex McLeish in.

Yes we were very good defensively last season, that's exactly what it is though, last season I don't think you can get a grip on this. Throughout his career he has been criticised for his defensive flaws.

You are basing your poll prediction on nothing more than pure fantasy. If you can't accept that a significant proportion of Everton fans want him gone then you are deluded.
