I'm amazed that the nostalgia thread is still open. Same old faces in it trying to fight a battle thats been lost. Martinez is unassailable. He's the manager and it's staying that way. "I'd stick with him until....".
Ludicrous. You have no say whatsoever. You represent barely a fraction of anyone who calls themselves an evertonian on the issue now.

Let's just draw a line under this silliness and look forward to season three under RM...and hopefully seasons four and five, because that will mean we're heading in the right direction.

BT sport showed an extended interview with Brown shoes before the Sunderland game- in that interview he was saying that the Leicester game from the start of the season was major factor to our failure this season.

I am sorry but the man is a dreamer at best and coupled with the other dreamer in the main stand we are all being tricked except for the players who sussed this out last summer. The job is too big for him and he does,nt have the man management skills to handle the players which I think has been a disgrace the way it,s all been handled since the summer by pushing it all back on to the players and staff at the club.

I only see one outcome to this, more duplicitous statements and excuses for the new season. It,s time we all woke up.
He has a point, wasnt the one game though, it was the first few, were fitness cost us. The first few games the football was good, we were shredding teams going forward but as soon as we were letting points slip and the defeats came, you could see the confidence drain from th players which hasnt really returned all season. We couldnt maintain any sort of momentum

What about all those years you were driving to get Moyes out even though he was under contract and Bill's best mate?

What you have said above is sort of why me and you have been at loggerheads most of the season, we wont truly know until the end of next season who is right and wrong. I see signs were he may change something but then revert to type ASAP. For example when he starts 4-4-2 he then takes mirallas off for Osman at the nearest chance and goes 4-1-3-1-1 sort of formation, whilst in one sense this looks like he is flexible, you can see that in another sense he is just going back to tactics he used earlier in the season that never worked. Unfortunately in this game you are judged by last years standards and it couldnt be any more true than for bobby. Last season he showed us what he can do, but as soon as this season started he had many obvious faults.

I can see why you want to give him time, its better to have a go and fail than wonder " what if " but the football win lose or draw is pretty much the same across the board. Favourite players, one winger on the pitch at any one time, keep possession, no urgency in attack, fullbacks kept back instead of doing what they have done well for the last few years raiding the channels. Just stuff that has become ovbious really.

The fullbacks have been in poor form, especially Baines who's stunk this season. Coleman thrived from Lennons introduction...you know, the player Martinez brought in to spark exactly that eventuality.

As for the changes in formations: you see what you want in them. That's all. I see games where we get a lot of good play and where we get very good shooting stats, which means we're not that far off. I do agree about the lack of urgency in the box, but this is something Martinez has stated even just yesterday its a problem we need a particular type of player t come in and give us help with.

Overall: you say that you understand why I want to give it time - well I think that's the only way forward here. I'm amazed anyone could arrive at the opposite conclusion to that. I know Martinez's faults and I've been outspoken about them, but neverin a million years do they amount to a situation where we dispense with his services. People need to get a grip and stop the constant kneejerks after a bad result and start getting behind the manager instead.

All those years? After he'd been in the job 7 years I called time on that manager. Not a moment before.

Maybe you and your fellow hanging judges can show that amount of loyalty to this manager?

Some people have really lost there way this season and will be on the wrong end of it all soon enough. The Moyes and kopite supporter accusations throw in to support a very poor season has been a joke at best and an insult to the fans.

Mark my words those who have been supportive of this current regime will find themselves under the hammer big time next season.

Well Dave why don't you stop posting and just let it ride away. You of all persons keep it going, look at this page, four of the posts are yours!

See, I sort of agree, but you sound like you'll take a pleasure out of it.

Seeing Everton fail is something I don't want to see - I'd rather be wrong about Martinez.

We fail every season by not winning a cup.

There are teams like Swansea who's players are all very comfortable on the ball and who can all take a pass, move into space and play a pass. Not too much to ask of any pro in my opinion.

Wouldn't disagree with that. My concern is that, for most of the season, we've forgotten about the move part in "pass and move". It can be argued that that's down to lack of confidence, injuries and age catching up with some players, but it's crucial to the way we need to be playing under Martinez.

Too often it's been pass and amble gently into a marked position. It was different last season, so the personnel can do it, but Martinez has failed to get enough players to take a bit of a risk with a pass and a run into space to receive a pass. He's in charge of coaching so he has to take the blame for it, and also has to fix it for next season.

Im genuinely amazed its a matter of debate for anybody. You must see you're lonely voices in the wilderness?

Maybe next season eh?
