Thought not.

Supposedly the fallings out with Distin and Eto'o, and a few other players who have look rattled, it does make you wonder if Martinez behind the scenes is a bit of a tough arse.

The wool drums which beat close to our's suggest he defo was at Wigan.

Funnily enough, I'm not sure that's such a positive. Footballers need to be treated in different ways and I think Bobby could have handled Distin better than he did. I don't think there was any falling out between Martinez and Eto'o by the way.

I should add that I'm not at all itk wrt Everton, and my view on the Eto'o situation is just educated guesswork.

If a manager does not have the full backing of the players then it,s a forgone conclusion. It,s not possible to sack the squad and if the manager then imports kids and untested players in bulk in the summer to overcome the lack of player support then it will just accelerate the process.

Sometimes a club has to look at the situation pragmatically and accept that allowing the unrest and turmoil to go on is just not worth it. I see another big part of the problem is also about the person who hired the manager refusing to accept he may have got it wrong.

Leaders unite not divide both at the board and manager level and all I see is a lack of leadership to the problems.

Sadly, I think that's right. He's a player with good control of the ball running at pace and he has the ability to gather the ball and turn and do that to devastating effect at times. His strength for me is that he only knows one direction: forward. He's a player that can turn defence into attack very quickly. It might be harsh all this though, because he is relatively young and could develop more in another environment.

Defence: Liverpool replaced Johnson for Can and it seemed to click. He's basically a CM with a physical presence to be in a CD unit. It is vulnerable that though. I take your point about needing dynamic wing backs to make it work, but the space to attack that system means everyone has to be playing spot on to avoid getting a chasing down the flanks.

Well yes I agree with Martinez. Those attributes to tend to grow over time, Paul Scholes was one of the best I have seen with them and he developed them as he grew older (as a young second striker he didn't have them so much). However most players like your Wilshires, Ozils, Osmans display them from a younger age and they get developed over time.

The lack of what could be labelled mental flexibility is at present what prevents Ross being an absolute worldbeater (or potential to be) like say a Rooney had. Whatever position Rooney is played in, he is able to adapt. That to me is the main difference. It's not a biggie and he can still be a very good player, but as you've said he needs to be allowed to play to his strengths next season. I think Martinez has probably expected a bit much from him.

It has taken a manager like Martinez for me (and others) I think to really appreciate the ability of Osman. At times he was a liability under Moyes but I am starting to wonder how much of that was his fault, or how much of it was down to Moyes expecting him to play like Kevin Kilbane up and down on the right wing. You can see Martinez plays to Osman's strengths. It's a real shame Martinez has only got to work with him at the end of his career, as I doubt very much he'd had spent a decade playing right wing in a rigid 4-5-1 had he been.

As regards Liverpool, yes I agree. Can is a class act, and has a lot of similar attributes to Stones (hence why I left him our of the earlier criticism of their defence). Outside of Moreno they don't have a player who can play either fullback role. I could easily see Oviedo and Garbutt being able to play left full back.

You are susceptible down the flanks in that system, but we are already susceptible down the flanks! I am in favour of playing Barkley deeper, but there is a legitimate question of protection behind him. He has shown he can "run the game" in a way very few others can in English football. But last seasons derby we were flying and all out attack. Against QPR he was superb too, but that was against a side who had lost every away game that season. The big question is, can he run the game at Spurs away? If we don't go to 3 at the back I wonder if Martinez will use him in some more challenging games in a midfield 3 alongside Besic and McCarthy.

It sounds consistent to me. A quality rarely found amongst fans, granted.

Last season he was always making the general point about belief and playing without fear to get the best out of players, and praising their attitude. What should he do this time around other than what he has been saying: that in order to play our way out of this players need to get on the ball and make it happen and believe in themselves.

He cant do it on the pitch himself and it's no use turning 180 degrees from last seasons message because he'd lose all credibility as a manager.

Why cant people accept that this positivity of his is his character? Should he turn himself into some nobhead tea cup smasher and hairdyer manager to make fans feel better about a loss?

What a phoney that'd make him...like that divvy over the road who switches from one message to another at the drop of a hat.

The really odd thing is that often it's the same people who whinged about Moyes's "knife to a gunfight" attitude. We probably needed a bit of Moyes's dour realism and acceptance in financial terms we are miles behind the top teams. But in the same way, after 11 years ad the squad we had a bit of positivity hasn't gone amiss either. The problem is the results have been awful this season.

Fascist hahaha. Pipe down Guevara for a moment there lad.

Everyone is allowed their opinion and that's sound but if someone is coming out with utter cack then I'll call it out.

Is that OK with you or you gonna go complain to your trade union rep?

Your wee titty lip is going because I've said negative things about fellow blues. The thing you're missing, toots, is that it's this that separates us from the kopites.

If you don't like it then reach for the ignore button x

LOL at the hypocrisy of you suggesting that I ignore you when that is exactly what you should do if other blues post stuff you don't agree with toodles

your big fat lip is wobbling with outrage as you take the moral high ground again claiming that looking down at other blues who have issues with the manager is what separates us from the kopites

condescending claptrap
