Depends what you class as top talent, we produce some very good players but there not a patch on some of the players spain, germany etc produce. Just we seem to overhype british kids

Genuinely, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney have had careers which most playerrs in europe would want.

I agree that the newer generation seems further behind, though

There are going to be generous helpings of humble pie eaten when this feller eventually gets the boot.

And then it will be " Yeah but I always knew it wouldn't work out....etc, etc."

As it used to say in the AA advert "But he's a really nice man, you know."

This is Everton ffs. And we can't even defend.
Times running out for you and your co-conspirators. There's a big lay off after Sundays game. If Martinez is vulnerable at all it'd be after a reversal on Sunday and the board have two weeks to get someone in if they so wished. If nothing happens early in that break you can bet your bottom dollar that Martinez is with us for the duration....first part of next season at the very least.

Got to agree with chris on this one. Pretty much this exact same team got us our most points and played the best football since the last 80s last year. It couldn't do that and not be considerd one of the best teams in that time period.

It either massively over achieved last year or massively under achieved this cos it's the same team.

I would say the latter. Given that Martinez has called Lukaku, barkley, Stones etc among the best players in europe you'd imagine he would too.

There are other factors that affect comparisons between last year and this, though. The main one, to me, is that other teams have sussed out how to play against us. I also think that last year we had a time when we played as a hybrid of a Moyes/Martinez team, which gave us solidity at the back combined with quick movement and transition in attack. We are now playing more like a pure Martinez team. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt at the moment, but he can't go on like this. Something has to change.

perfect for me this

@The Equaliser these are what I was responding to with my comment
I don't know how many teams around us have 8 full internationals, 3 young internationals who have represented their country and will do more times in the future, finished 5th last year and have constantly finished in top 8 and have spent £28m on a striker.

I can safely say that we are better, technically that the majority of teams below 8th

Apart from the 2 Belgians, can you remind me which top footballing nation these internationals play for again?

Would only class Terry and Cole out of that list that were contenders for best in there positions, and rooney was not far of some of the best on his day

This is spot on, from the start of the season I've said numerous times that teams i've figured us out. Press us high and sit deep, we've been unable to combat it, and neither has the manager.

The dross he put out over xmas firmly made my mind up on the situation. I understand that people are willing to give him longer, just not me.

We all want the best for everton

I've set my plotters alarm clock for June now, although the snooze function is operative until the autumn.

Agree, and to be honest I think internationally England are poor because the likes of Gerrard and Lampard are way overrated, and don't perform on the international level.
