Seen a tweet from Sky Sports saying Martinez was fuming about their dodgy goal.

I kid you not, one of the replies was from a West Ham fan saying "Yeah but he wasn't fuming when McCarthy purposefully injured Payet"*

*paraphrasing here but the general meaning is still the same.

Can't agree about Barry, he has very good presence and has been one of the few good points about this season. He was outstanding in both the home leg and the away league game. I don't think Cleverley is a central ball winning midfield player at all, he's better further up or out wide, but think there was little option with Besic out and McCarthy clearly not match fit(thought he was very average when he came on).

Fact is we got done by the better team and the officials. We need someone to take the burden off Lukaku who hasn't been on it since his injury in the first leg.

Look we need to get behind them now, starting with Carlisle and them some very important league games. We can't afford to dwell on last night, it's gone.

Barry always does his job well enough, but he sits too deep to exert any real control over the midfield. Hopefully Besic will come straight back in as he made a significant difference.

I don't know if its because I was dreading getting beaten by the sh1te in the final, but I'm not half as pissed off today as I thought I'd be!

I have now watched the game twice. This second time without the fear factor.
We were just poor on the day, still waiting for us to turn up as it happens!

The lads must be disappointed with their performance last night. I would hope so.

You think we are just bottlers on the big occasions? We are better than that and we can beat city on a different day.

I think the problem is deeper than that. Performances have been on the slide for a while. Carlisle will fancy their chances of causing an upset

I've not had time to read the whole thread, but if the above is a sample of the prevailing feeling I'm shocked and disappointed. I thought we executed our game plan in an excellent manner, and the selection of Osman to play the first hour or so was fully justified. Unfortunately(and 'once again'?) John Stones was the weak link in defence...maybe he is not of sufficient quality as a RIGHT BACK ? Mori was superb and can't be dropped(just occasionally rested) from now on ...he is strong and committed and along with Besic and a few others(the 'big names') He is the future of the team.Martinez was 100% spot on in his assesment after the game...it was heartbreaking, it was unfair and the team will now show that they have the bottle to do well until the end of the season. We were always going to play to hit them on the break and while they had more possession, we defended and broke well throughout. Remember they are the best team and the most expensive team in the league..they have very few weaknesses and have a great choice of personell. Martinez was also right when he said that we are (slowly) building up to something special at Everton, and while a lot of things have to come together yet, one thing has to happen..that is the the supporters have to keep their nerve. The manager certainly will, and the players.

From that pic it looks like the ref and lino should see it. That's what makes it so hard to take that we only needed one of them to see it but neither of them did. Poor officiating.

From the high elevation of the still frame, yes. At pitch level, no...
