There were two supposed superstars wandering round that pitch like they were above it all. Is that the manager's fault? The one good defender tonight was the one he bought.
Despite that everyone knew we needed huge chunk of luck tonight against a team who could bring someone like De Bruyne on as a sub, but they still needed one of worst decisions I've seen against us and a nasty deflection. Both of them just when we seemed to be regaining some composure. I know it's hard for people to look rationally but we lost by one goal over two legs against the probable champions. Is calling for the manager to go really what's needed now? Or is it just what some people wanted to do after this match.

We're basically agreed. Here's a post i prepared earlier:

Hard luck lads: a very good defensive display, but no teeth upfront. Where's Naismith when you need him? Oh yeah...... knew you'd come to regret that before long, Roberto, but you can redeem yourself by buying us a top class striker in the next few days. Overall it was a pretty decent, and very spirited team performance. No way am i going to blame the guys on the pitch tonight. You did your very best, but in the end you just couldn't pull it off against the twelve men.

So tell me: what's the POINT of watching football anymore, when it isn't an even playing field? It's no longer a sport, it's a pantomime.

It was so nice of the linesman to get up in time to call the offside against us near the end. F--- YOU, FA. You're as bent as FIFA, and you know it. The thing is, an increasing proportion of the fans are cottoning on to you. Your days are numbered.

Never mind though. Watch us shoot up the league with the help of the penalties we're owed.....

As for Man C (leaving aside the cheating b---------- who were trying to get our lads carded): i'm sorry to see De Bruyne get that injury. He's one of the classiest players in the game.

Unlike with the Swansea game, the guys can hold their heads up in pride today.

Anybody who doesn't think that the home crowd are now losing us points at Goodison need to have a hard think about things.

Joel wasn't involved enough to convince me one way or another, but on the strength of what i've seen i'd like to see him have a run of games in the Premiership. Certainly his distribution looks better than Howard's.

Where's Davek, anyway? What's your take on things now then?

What, stones not sliding and blocking a dreadful cross? I agree.

If not, the Lino was on the other side, so can't blame him for not having X ray vision, probably the ref should've done better but we all know about Atkinson and his Bias

Hahahahahaah sack off! Stones did nothing wrong as the ball was out of play - far out of play as well. You can blame the lino as it is his responsibility. Atkinson is horrid. We should seriously lodge an appeal (like we did with Clattenburg, IIRC) not to have him ref us for a season or two. We have as much grounds as we did on that occasion.

the bloke you're talking about is clueless. His opinion currency is totally devalued imo. I put him on ignore after the Leicester game...suggest you do likewise

To be fair to davek, there was a typo in my original post, which should have read: 'Yeah, but surely he's around to tell us why we didn't progress like he assured us WE (not he) would?.....'

Taking off Del and putting on Kone DOSE not help Rom..... *Jesus Christ*.

Errr... Rom has scored the majority of goals this season when Kone has been on the pitch. Del lost his head after missing that sitter and started doing his diving and giving away easy possession. He looked knackered and was being marked out of the game.

Lennon was probably the better solution, but I didn't mind Kone coming on.

Probably an over-reaction the last bit. Time for bed.

Gutted we lost. Sticking by Martinez still - and tonight hasn't changed my opinion on him.

There really isn't... they like the big boys too much... the big boys + more money for papers. Simple. Even if a journo would go for it, it'd be shot down by an editor.

The case of any corruption in the FA/reffing would be massive, but why risk it all when they have a steady stream of income from making up another excuse for the RS getting a dodgy pen, or Terry not being given offside. Just blame it on the defenders and get the masses and media-following sheep to go into hysterics.

No, the FA have no incentive, but i like to think that investigative journalists have, even if, in the final analysis it's just for credo and a wage rise.

Just wanted to say hard luck Everton. Difference for me was aguero as is so often the case. So lucky to have him. Other than that not much in it over two legs as the aggregate score reflected. Disappointed to read on here cheap shots about city being a charade, oil money etc etc etc. I was at places like Lincoln away watching us get beat with lee Bradbury up front not so long ago so a charade I am not. Must say I was astonished Martinez took off delafou, he had demichelis in his back pocket, I think taking him off gave us a break and allowed us more and more possession. Also stones looks like his head is elsewhere. Could have gone either way in the end, Atkinson was [Poor language removed] both ways but can't blame him for our second, linesman was out of position and 40 yards away. Anyway wish you luck for the rest of the season.

The assistant referee was on the side of the pitch designated to him and as far as I could make out he was level with the touch line. That doesn't suggest he was 'out of position'. If he couldn't see it then fair enough but he was in the best possible place as far as I could make out.

While I have a lot of time and respect for long-term City fans like yourself, you'll never convince anyone that it's nothing to do with the oil money.

That's spectacularly wrong. Barry is a liability - do you actually think that?

When in almost every game he's one card from walking, yes. But as i say, he has a good footballing brain, (an exceptional one even), so to repeat what i originally said, 'he's an enigma', i.e. some good and some bad.
