I disagree. You will see it happen again and again with other players under Martinez, and it's because of this ridiculous philosophy, in which players are encouraged to look for a pass, even when they are in extremely dangerous situations.

It will happen again, in the not too distant future. Vault me.

Yes it will happen - but without that we wouldn't have finished 5th last season, or done the double over United, or beat Arsenal 3-0.

Howard was at fault today. Not the style. All he needed to do was slam it into row z and we could get Pienaar off and regroup.

The thing that Martinez did wrong was blaming the ref for not stopping the game. He should've come out and admitted Howard was at fault. It'd save all the media questioning the style and the defence. As it was Howard who made the mistake.

What does worry me is Bobby's comments about not switching off for the 2nd goal, and that the fourth official knew Pienaar had to come off.........His clown keeper had a perfect chance to smash the ball into row Z.......Martinez has to start calling out his team a bit more. I'm not saying he should sit and slate everyone off - but needs to show the fans that the performances that some of his squad are putting in are not acceptable.

That's one person I can't defend Howard. Over the years he's really done my head in. I understand keepers make mistakes but Howard makes mistakes rob green would get crucified for. I don't know how many we've let in, 16 now? Howard's guilty for a number of those. Obviously it's hard to change your number one keeper halfway thru the season but he's really got to go.

My breakdown of the season.

Leicester 2-2, should have won that thought Everton were ok.

Arsenal 2-2, played well for 80mins.

Chelsea 3-6, this game turned the season. I think we overreacted. Chelsea are going to win the league this season and we weren't very good that day. Questions were asked of the defense which didn't need to be asked.

West brom 2-0 deserved a win.

Crystal palace 3-2, game absolutely stolen.

Liverpool 1-1 first game where Everton didn't really play well, change of tactics to a 4-3-3 maybe an overreaction to shore up te defense. Didn't do enough to deserve a draw in my opinion.

Man U 2-1 deserved a draw, Everton were terrible for much of the game but a missed penalty and two out of this world saves. I don't like the way we played tho, too much long ball stuff.

We probably should have 12 points not 6. The injuries haven't helped. We have already played four of the six genuine top 4 challengers, and we can beat Tottenham. Worry when we are still bottom 3 halfway thru the season.
We can't beat Palace at Goodison, red alert!

We ARE a relegation fighting team though.
No we're not. We've had a tough run of fixtures during a time where we haven't been playing particularly well so even given the fixtures we haven't got as many points as we would like.

However given the right fixture list we could easily win 5 in a row and that would put us back up 8th-5th.

The relegation teams aren't capable of that.

What worries me is that by the time we're firing top 4 will be out of sight but I suppose we always where prioritizing Europa this season although that is looking a mistake.

He's been directly responsible for conceding 3 goals in the last 3 games.
Missed a cross vs Palace.
Gerrards free kick last week.
Falcao's goal today.

If this was Joe Hart, or anyone else for that matter they'd be dropped. You know what, id genuinely bring in Joel vs Villa. He cant do much worse.

Villa is only going to manage 2-3 shots/goal (I think) so maybe he can get a bit of confidence back with what should be a decreased workload. If we lose then Joel needs a start to see what he can do.

No manager is going to single out the keeper unless it's blatantly obvious. And even then they normally play it down. We don't need the manager to call out his players in public, it can be done behind doors. I don't think it achieves much for players confidence either, the media like to run with things too.

That's irrelevant mate, Martinez knew his budget and were he needed to strengthen, He decided to spend 28m on one player instead of lets say buy proper cover at RB and CB and get a real AM in case Barkley gets injured
he wouldve got slagged off if we didnt get lukaku and he went to spurs or some1

tough decision

Its not all doom and gloom, much of it has been unlucky and that has a tendency to even itself out. I think the D (assuming Howard gets his act together to the point where he's not a tire fire) is much more solid now and despite not really attacking much on another day we'd have 3 goals easily.

Yeh but Everton being Everton stones is now gonna be out for a while and we have to bring Distin back

I think our biggest problem is simply, we don't look like were gonna score, 1 shot in the 1st half on target and that was a pen, we lost to a bang avarage middle of the table team today. Howard is really annoying and Pienaar is just well CRAP, was like playing with 10 men.

Lukaku gone backwards, can't do anything useful, should of had Eto on
