Not sure what happened given that last year was arguably his best. Even stuff he's done well over the years (ex: his outlet throws were integral to our counterattack last year and I think he even had a few assists), even they have been poor. He's having a horrible season.
When he plays for the US he is much better. Concentration seems to be on an other level. For Everton he is more himself. A [Poor language removed] up per game a little like David Luiz. Can be good but he is just not reliable. And with age it is not getting better i'm afraid

Gibson played ok and will only get fit by playing. He's only 26 still and a 26 year old Gibson is probably better or at least as good as a 33 year old Barry.

Plus Ledson is young but Utd aren't afraid to play teenagers and neither should we.

Barkley and Osman can also play there.
We need pace not a stroller like Gibson he was so poor in midweek too!

agree - although the long ball stuff worked today and we should've done it more often because United's defence was tosh.

ffs Tim Howard you melt

It's not really the way Everton play tho. When osman came on, he linked the play up much better. I think he's good for 30 mins a game.

Its not all doom and gloom, much of it has been unlucky and that has a tendency to even itself out. I think the D (assuming Howard gets his act together to the point where he's not a tire fire) is much more solid now and despite not really attacking much on another day we'd have 3 goals easily.

I think we've been poor the last couple of games against Liverpool and Man United. Other games we were fine. I don't think it's fatigue, it's still early in the season. The injuries are hurting us. Not having mirallas and Coleman down the right has been huge.

We're 4th from bottom and we spent 28 mill on a player with the first touch of a hippo
Injuries sminjuries Everton is a business and our earning capacity is diminishing the lower down the table we are
Also our capability to bring in top quality players will be severely affected
Much as we'd like it to not be, a problem it is and no investor would look twice at us ATM

Happy for once we spent 28m! BUT we basically gave the money to Chelsea to upgrade their striker. There's no doubt who got the better deal at the moment. Maybe lukaku will come good but right now he's not even better than benteke.

We didn't play well but we were still unlucky not to get a draw. Thought that was lukakus worst performance for us yet.i know this won't go down well with the haters but osmans appearance completely changed the game. Hes still got a lot to offer as a sub.stones injury is devastatingly depressing

Martinez' philosophy discourages booting the ball into row Z, and encourages them to look for a pass, even in dangerous situations. Which is what Howard did today. Howard was employing Martinez' philosophy when he decided against booting it into row Z.

The thing is, I don't think Howard even looked.

The moment he kicked the ball the United fans erupted....they realised even before TV viewers that he had put the ball into an area where there was no one but a United player.

If he had looked he would surely have seen that......and realised thumping it into Row Z was the better option no matter what the coach told him.

You would like to think Roberto tells them that if absolutely nowt is on then bury it somewhere in the stands.

We are not going down. In six weeks time we will be in top half. Won't be anywhere near top four but will be pushing 6,7 or 8 th.

we'll get top 7 by seasons end. Top 6 is very realistic. Top 4 looks a pipe dream but you never know. We need 12 points from the next 15 at least really.

I don't think our strongest XI includes any wingers right now. With Lukaku/Eto'o/Naisy being better up front than on the wing, seems like the squad is calling out to see a formation with a front two.

I actually hate him (in footballing terms) right now. It was an absolutely atrocious decision. He's cost us big style

Pienaar wasn't the reason we lost, I didn't mean to convey that but Everton is a better team now and need better players. I understand we have injuries so I shouldn't complain to much but in the future I hope he doesn't play.
Ok fair enough, I still think he has a role to play but I also think we are not far from turning a corner. Oviedo was a real plus coming in today and could be a long term alternative, hopefully Coleman and McCarthy will be back and should be seeing in Ross soon. I think 80% of teams in the prem would be struggling with our key injuries. We've played 4 of the perceived top 6 teams in 7 games. I just think we will start building our points haul now but I'm there to be shot at if docent happen between now and Christmas.

It would also help if a good number of our players didn't have the first touch of a concrete wall. The number of times we miscontrol even simple passes is staggering. And it's not just Lukaku -- McGeady and Pienaar were both shockingly poor at keeping possession.

There all poor players

Good points: We know our first choice centre back pairing (although it aint gowna happen now), baines 2nd half seemed back to his best, hibbo, Besic was quietly afective, browning again looked positive when he came on, we didnt let our heads drop , oviedo.
Bad points: Howard seems an error per game, lukaku didnt get support first half, i dont like or rate mcgeady he dosent suit our play at all keeps it for to long and stops us from playing quick passing, first half we didnt close down quick enough

All in all not to down about it with us finishing the game with 4 players 21 and under. All with barkley, mcarthy, mirallas and coleman out
