Just want to say I thought it was only a few key individuals who let us down tonight. Mainly Howard, Pienaar and maybe baines with the peno. I thought Besic was excellent as was naismith and stones was solid. Osman and oviedo made a great impact.

I think any Martinez slagging off is unjust as he got his subs right ie osman and oviedo who had worldies saved and the team came out alot better in the second half.

Two key moments that stunk of amateur hour: Baines penalty and Howard's assist.

What does worry me is Bobby's comments about not switching off for the 2nd goal, and that the fourth official knew Pienaar had to come off.........His clown keeper had a perfect chance to smash the ball into row Z.......Martinez has to start calling out his team a bit more. I'm not saying he should sit and slate everyone off - but needs to show the fans that the performances that some of his squad are putting in are not acceptable.

Tim Howard is a massive dope.
We've equalised, looking at piling on the pressure, Tim Howard can see the whole pitch, meaning he can see Pienaar going down, so you expect him to web it into Row Z so that we can sub him off, nah, not Tim Howard, Tim Howard proceeds to web it straight at Rafael of whom starts the move off for their second goal.

Not sure what happened given that last year was arguably his best. Even stuff he's done well over the years (ex: his outlet throws were integral to our counterattack last year and I think he even had a few assists), even they have been poor. He's having a horrible season.

He's been directly responsible for conceding 3 goals in the last 3 games.
Missed a cross vs Palace.
Gerrards free kick last week.
Falcao's goal today.

If this was Joe Hart, or anyone else for that matter they'd be dropped. You know what, id genuinely bring in Joel vs Villa. He cant do much worse.

that wasn't anything to do with 'filossafee'. It was another individual error by someone who has made an error every game this season. Every man and his dog was expecting him to knock it out. Howard decided otherwise. Not Martinez.

I disagree. You will see it happen again and again with other players under Martinez, and it's because of this ridiculous philosophy, in which players are encouraged to look for a pass, even when they are in extremely dangerous situations.

It will happen again, in the not too distant future. Vault me.

My breakdown of the season.

Leicester 2-2, should have won that thought Everton were ok.

Arsenal 2-2, played well for 80mins.

Chelsea 3-6, this game turned the season. I think we overreacted. Chelsea are going to win the league this season and we weren't very good that day. Questions were asked of the defense which didn't need to be asked.

West brom 2-0 deserved a win.

Crystal palace 3-2, game absolutely stolen.

Liverpool 1-1 first game where Everton didn't really play well, change of tactics to a 4-3-3 maybe an overreaction to shore up te defense. Didn't do enough to deserve a draw in my opinion.

Man U 2-1 deserved a draw, Everton were terrible for much of the game but a missed penalty and two out of this world saves. I don't like the way we played tho, too much long ball stuff.

We probably should have 12 points not 6. The injuries haven't helped. We have already played four of the six genuine top 4 challengers, and we can beat Tottenham. Worry when we are still bottom 3 halfway thru the season.

agree - although the long ball stuff worked today and we should've done it more often because United's defence was tosh.

ffs Tim Howard you melt

I find watching us this season similar to the start of 94/95 season. Lots of pretty passing going no where and then punished too easily for sloppy play. We had a centre forward then who looked lethargic and uninterested then. We then got Royle in and changed the setup.
We have the players but we are not using them. Look at Sigurdson at Swansea. Lukaku needs high intensity balls over the top, not slow paced balls into feet. He just doesn't suit that kind of play. He is a direct forward, and he will score goals.

Its not all doom and gloom, much of it has been unlucky and that has a tendency to even itself out. I think the D (assuming Howard gets his act together to the point where he's not a tire fire) is much more solid now and despite not really attacking much on another day we'd have 3 goals easily.

Excellent summing up.

But 'Riddick' is saying there should have been more of a budget, and I agree with him.

That's irrelevant mate, Martinez knew his budget and were he needed to strengthen, He decided to spend 28m on one player instead of lets say buy proper cover at RB and CB and get a real AM in case Barkley gets injured

Agree but injuries have played a big part alongside distin and jags both acting like pub players throughout the season
We're 4th from bottom and we spent 28 mill on a player with the first touch of a hippo
Injuries sminjuries Everton is a business and our earning capacity is diminishing the lower down the table we are
Also our capability to bring in top quality players will be severely affected
Much as we'd like it to not be, a problem it is and no investor would look twice at us ATM
