The time he spent on loan at west Brom he didnt start a huge amount of goals, we cant afford him to be on the bench.

The lad is still only 20 and hasnt started too many top flight games so it will take time for him to get used to the 90 minutes.

Lets just enjoy the lad while hes here.

He started 15 games off the bench last year; its about balance. I must admit he did look totally done in during the second half, you could tell because his distribution became sloppy, possibly through fatigue. The lad is a beast who will score a bag full of goals, just getting the balance right and knowing when to drop

Hes a superb, very, very special player to see him play for Everton at some stage in what will be a a brilliant career is a privilege.

Top Drawer.

I'm smitten, TBH...it's unhealthy and is going to lead to heartbreak. It's as much about his off the field stuff as on, just like Leighton.

"When you do well for a team such as Everton then it becomes easier to go into a top team and establish yourself. Look at the number of players from here who have gone to a big club. It’s impressive. Jack Rodwell, Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney. Hopefully for me it will be the same."

Erm... like that stuff?

I love him already, and its going to end in pya tears next Summer when it comes apparent that he will NEVER wear an Everton shirt ever again.

I can't make the distinction for you, Padawan. Rom's career has been on a constant incline since before his nuts dropped but, unlike Leighton, I don't think he has an outlet that is away from football. They've had completely different career arcs in their early years. But, considering all the hype that's surrounded him, he's a pretty grounded person. They have the same makeup but they've had completely different experiences in their early years even though they do the same thing. Context, kidda'.

Such a talent. If for nothing else I admire Martinez for getting this one done. I believe many players gravitate to the style of Martinez play. This should bode well for us in the future also. Thrilled to bits. Chelsea have a icon here I am glad we get to share the wealth some. I can see 20 odd being banged in by him this year if he stays healthy.

just praying he steers clear of injuries, because our replacements don't bear thinking about.

I know that Kone had Ramadan but he must have the same issue every preseason and I don't see how he has managed to become so unfit over the summer unless he has some other ongoing injury concern too.

I'd be quite tempted to play 4-4-2. Hopefully an extra striker will take some of the burden of running the line off Lukaku and he can keep a higher tempo for longer during matches. Defenders could also be drawn to the big Belgian, which could open up space for Jelavic or Kone.

I agree that if the Chelsea loanee gets injured or loses form our own form could dramatically nosedive if we have to start relying on our reserve strikers. I'd prefer to see them getting up to speed before we need them.

And there lies the problem, getting them up to speed like you say.

Poor in the second half yesterday. Wouldn't be too arsed normally because City weren't affording us much of the ball, but during periods of that second half were we really needed him to take hold of the ball, get a bit of space and maybe get a spell of possession going he failed pretty miserably. His passing was poor.

That said, still love him cos he can slot!

It almost seems like he is so excitable he runs himself into the ground in the first half and has no energy left for the second half. Maybe needs to pace himself a bit better.
