Hes Awesome. FACT.

Hes 20 FFS and 20 mill is a bargin.

Hes the same age as Ross and Delefou whom we consider young players and are tolerent of them making mistakes or dips in form - hes far more developed then both - his potential is frightening.

Exactly. People are treating him like he's a 30 year old experienced striker. Of course his form will dip, of course he'll make mistakes. But bloody hell how many other strikers do this well in the prem at 20?

And how many of them are built like Rom? When he's 26 opposition defences will be too scared to tackle him.

To be honest I thought he looked quite hungry on Saturday, didin't really have anything that fell for him to have a strike though.

It seems that Chelsea made a deliberate policy decision to buy up quite a number of the worlds promising young talents. They are clearly applying a model that has operated in other countries and although its harsh on players its a clear way of circumnavigating FFP.

Many of these young talents were probably rated at only about 30% likely to make it into the Chelsea squad ,others were rated as more likely so round about 50% and others as 100%

Its obvious which bracket the likes of Oscar & Hazard fall and whilst I would rate Lukaka in the middle to upper bracket there are clear suggestions that he wont make it at Chelsea possibly not down to hi talent but more in his will to win something that was reflected in his reluctance to stay and fight for his place.

Despite what has been claimed Chelsea only paid about £10-£13 million for him. In August his amortised value will be between £5.5 & £4 million. I am unable to trace anywhere what if any fee was involved when he was loaned to WBA but the suggestion is that Everton have paid in the region of £3 million as a loan fee

In the last window you we saw Chelsea make about a 125% profit on Kevin De Bryne who, like Lukaka is fast building a reputation as an Belgium International and it was reported shared the same reluctance to fight for his place

So if Chelsea policy is indeed to sell him on the fee is going to be minimum of between £22 & £25 million.

Will/could Everton find that size of fee? Will Chelsea sell to Everton? I have my doubts on both counts!

If Everton want to buy or at least try to buy Lukaka they will have to pay a premium.

Players of his potential and indeed to an extent, proven ability , don't come cheap and that's something that wont be ignored.

Ok when the Red neighbours paid £35 million for Carroll that was mad but West Ham paid in excess of £16 million for him, and that's for a player with a bad track record injury wise, older ,and the killer point is that he has scored less goals in the league.

We will see but I cant see how he will go for less that £22m and in truth if Everton want to even want to get Chelsea to discuss the possibility then that's the sort of ball park figure they are going to have to come up with.

You do realise that the reason Carroll's valuation has been massively inflated is the fact he was English and on the original transfer Liverpool had the torres 50m burning a hole in their pocket and Newcastle knew they where desperate, Lukaku is more in the sturridge mold anyways than the very hyped carroll

Why? Higher or lower?
Thats exactly what I thought when I read that post. I'd say between 20 and 25m seems about right. I'd say Arsenal and possibly Spurs might be in for him. It will all depend if he wants to stay in England. If he does, I'd imagine Chelsea would prefer to sell to us than London rivals, now, wheres that 22.5 million...

As much as I like him, he still has a lot to learn and will become a very good player, I just dont see that happening with us though.

Lukaku, like so many other foreign players, only really want to play for either any CL qualifier club or, failing that, a big enough London club, such is the lure of the capital. Our attractiveness is way down the list on both counts. And this is why the very last thing we'd have wanted was the RS ending in the top 4. No way will we picture in the transfers of any top class players, other than through loans.

The debate really is two fold

First what will Chelsea want for him? With the World Cup coming up a lot of clubs will want to do business before in case the player has a good tournament and their value rockets . The lad is pretty much guaranteed a start for Belgium and if they come anywhere near their potential he will have a huge part to play meaning his value is unlikely to go down

Second will Chelsea sale him to an EPL club? They are unlikely to sale to either Arsenal or to gain revenge to Spurs. Everton possibly athough there is no way he will be sold as a favour. Chelsea will want top dollar so the question is how much will Everton be prepared or able to pay?

Clubs like Ath Madrid & Dortmund would be my guess as to his probable destination

What's people's thoughts on him today, i personally don't want us to sign him, i know he scored today like but i think we can get much better for the money he'd cost, i was a bit upset on 72 mins when he lost the ball (for the umpteenth time) but it bounced off the defender and ended up at McGeady's feet, now McGeady wanted Lukaku to be alert and ready for passes but Lukaka ended up with his back to McGeady and the ball and he just put his hands over his face, McGeady had no option but to shoot from long range

I thought he was terrible quite frankly, and his goal came from the fact he was clumsy in possession originally. Don't rate him anyway near the £20m bracket.
