Lukaku

I disagree. It's not hard for me to imagine Arsenal, Athletico Madrid, or Borussia Dortmund moving for Lukaku in the summer. All will be in need of new strikers and Lukaku definitely fits the bill.

This. I'd be made up if he came and stayed here. But i don't think he is anywhere ready for champions leauge yet. Mind you depends on the style of play of the team eh.

Lukaku needs to score more goals, he has 10 to his name so far. He will not beat last seasons record, this season.

Lukaku, despite his stature, is not a player who is ever going to be brilliant at playing with his back to goal, holding the ball and bringing others into play - this is the role he is often playing for us and he is not as good at it as you would hope.

His real strength is when he is facing goal and can use his speed and power to be direct. We rarely give him the opportunity to do this. He is also a pretty decent finisher, yet we create relatively little for him in the way of chances.

He's a good player, and playing in a side like Dortmund who are all about speed of attacks, he'd be excellent. He'll get his fair share with us, but we don't really play to his strengths and I'm not sure we will adjust our style of play to make it work. If Lukaku was prepared to come here permanently and Chelsea wanted £20-25m, I'd have a long, hard think about it. I agree he's a good player, and maybe he's the best we could hope to get at that sort of money but I'd seriously think about whether or not a different type of striker might be more suited to us, especially since spending that level of cash would be the vast majority of our transfer budget and to my mind we could need anything up to 6-7 players this summer.

Its not his goalscoring that his problem. Its his all-round game.

His touch can be awfull, really rally bad. He can be lazy at times, and his work a little deeper, can be bad.

Not a chance is he ready to be starting for a top top side.

Torres offers so much more as an lone striker. This is proved by Chelsea sending him out, again.

He has huge potential, but its still just that reall.

How goals has he got this season mate?

As I said. Its not the goals thats a problem. Its the link-up with the 3 behind him.

Torress is more experienced, and better at this.

Torres is shot infront of goal, hence them wanting a top top striker....and also why they want to sell Rom.

One is learning his trade, the other has been in decline for several years

Lukaku is like 20 years of age, not 29 with a record of scoring 30 a season.

you can critique him all you want but he has at least 8 years before he hits his prime to improve and personally i htink he will be ranked up there with the best by that time.

Difference we have now is if we can buy the likes of him over buying Kenwin Jones, it means other prospects, for example Barkley will want to stay. In 12 months under Martinez we would go from the nearly rans to one of the best developing teams in the league, ala Athletico Madrid have done in Spain.

Can we afford him, probably not. But until he is playing in a shirt on september 1st, we can still dream of keeping him.

Hes Awesome. FACT.

Hes 20 FFS and 20 mill is a bargin.

Hes the same age as Ross and Delefou whom we consider young players and are tolerent of them making mistakes or dips in form - hes far more developed then both - his potential is frightening.
