If he's willing to come to us just to be a starter then I'd have to think, if Cheslea won't play him, he wouldn't think twice about going to another English, Spanish, German or French side who are in the CL if we're not...if that is indeed what he wants.

One thing in our favour is that out of the current top 7 in the prem, he'd only be first choice (if Chelsea don't wanna nurture him) for us.

Spurs perhaps? Soldado doesn't seem to be very effective and who knows when Adebayor will decide he has proved his point to AVB. If they keep Sherwood on he seems to like playing 442, at least against teams lower in the prem, which means he would likely get lots of playing time.

To get CL from here, I believe we can lose only 2 games out of our remaining 13. We can draw two...and must win 9(!!). That gives us 74 points which MIGHT be enough. A 'double edged sword' factor in this years comp is that relegation still threatens about 8(!) teams who will all fight backs to the wall and take points off top 4 rivals. Of course, they will also be feral against us...(that's the 'double-edged' bit).

We have to play like the mighty NZ cricket team and play with steely, steely resolve. Top 4 is VERY important.

...to keep Lukaku interested I mean, otherwise that post would be off-topic

Do you not think he would get a start at Arsenal?

I actually really like Podolski. Would love to see him in a blue shirt *dreams* and Giroud is having a better season than Lukaku. Lukaku has the potential, to be a lot better, but I'm not sure he's a Wenger player.

As for Spurs: Again on current form, I wouldn't start Lukaku ahead of Adebayor. However, they would be frightening together in a 4-4-2.

[="Groucho, post: 2541497, member: 11868"]Absolutely - and that's why we need 4th.

With a striker of quality we're boss - without, we are an excellent team playing very well, but wanting of a top top top striker.[/quote]

Theres 3 positions which we're lacking in and I think it really depends on personal opinions as to which would be a priority;

A-- Lukaku's record is roughly 1 goal every 2 games and he's only 20years old. He's fitted into the side seamlessly and can only get better --no negative points from me on this signing.

B-- Playmaker needed to unlock defences. It's apparent we can dominate posession but lack the killer pass.

C-- Left sided centre back to partner Stones in the long term. Someone who can potentially evolve into a world class star.

Whenever one of these players becomes available we should bring them in depending on price/age. With this in mind we should sign Lukaku this summer.

We could actually be faced with signing lukaku and Barry + several loan signings.

Wonder how the fans would react to no 'new' signings?!

I don't need to catch up on anything mate. I said at the start of the season we will not get 4th. Everyone else is catching up to me.

Really?

Ok....cause I don't remember many if any Evertonians saying preseason that we'd get fourth place. Not one actually.

By the way. I said before the start of the season that we wouldn't win the league.

Smart huh?

...prognosticative prowess par excellence. But I have not outrightly discounted 4th....not with 39 points still on the table

All those saying Lukaku isn't all that are just being responsible and looking out for themselves because in most likelihood he will NOT be with us this season.
But make no mistake- he is going to be one of the top top strikers in world football in a few years time.
The kid is 20. Developmentally he has a huge way to go. If we could buy him, we would have one of the best in a few years time. I'd love that. But it might be too soon for Everton Football Club and Romelu Lukaku.

I think people forget that he's only 20, probably because he played a lot of football for West Brom last season. There's no doubt he'll as good, if not better, than Drogba was.
