Lukaku

I'm not a Jelavic fan but playing Lukaku alone up top for 90 mins every single game when he's not playing well doesn't seem the greatest idea. Lukaku needs to start as he is by far our best striker but subbing him off at 70 mins for Jelavic or Vellios can't be worse than flogging Lukaku until the 90th minute, I think/hope?

Clueless... He could barely complete 90mins when he first arrived, his fitness has improved but the lone striker role is hard work and he's one of the few players that has played every game for us recently. He would get rested i'm sure if we had better back up than Jelavic, but he doesn't offer us any more than a tired Lukaku.

If I'm clueless them answer me this, do u think that Lukaku gets through more work than Seamus Coleman or Leighton Baines. And bear in mind it took the best part of 6 years before Baines picked up an injury? I think we all know the answer. Tiredness is an excuse that players cling to when form is lost. I love Lukaku by the way but he needs to be dropped for a game or two, not rested.

Switching gears a bit on the thread...Could a chelski swap of Mata for Higuain open the door for a long-term deal with Rom? Seems a good fit for Napoli & chelski to swap these 2, then maybe they don't need Lukaku back? thoughts?

I was chatting to a Chelsea fan the other night, who was actually really sound and level headed. He was quite complimentary of Everton and we got chatting about Lukaku. I said to him that after watching him for half a season, I can see why Mourinho decided to loan him out, as he still has some improving to do. He agreed with me and was surprised that someone else shared the same viewpoint, as all of his other Chelsea mates think Mourinho is an idiot for loaning him out.

The way I see it, Lukaku is best here for his own sake, but Chelsea could have no doubt made good use of him. In the long run it's probably better for Lukaku to have this extra year of an almost guaranteed starting role at a team with lower expectations, whether he stays at Chelsea or not.

Did you also tell him Chelsea are a joke in english football lore and always will be? Can't wait for Abramovic to be incarcerated!

Hahaha, it was at a rather pleasant NYE party so I thought I'd best not spoil the atmosphere.

The party was in Chelsea actually. We walked past Roman Abramovich's house. It was ridiculous, there were houses 1/10th the size for sale for £4m or so. Lovely area, though.
