How much is Lukaku worth in today market? I would pay up to around 18 million.
w/c can go both ways though mate a dire tournament can reduce values as well as a good one can build on them plus he likely won't be starting as benteke is the coaches favorite for that role, and chelsea don't strike me as a club who wait to do anything, if they want shut the player goes, if they want to hold them they stay,
Lukaku's first choice for Belgium pal, not Benteke.
Even after a poor World Cup he'd still be worth 15-20 IMO as the hype over him is unnecessarily threw the roof. It was before he played for us, then he started on fire and it went into overdrive whilst in reality he's been average for weeks. The media don't tell anyone that though, he's the reason were we are where we are.
In all honesty, Lukaku is not that great, it's all still potential and I don't think for one minute he has a future at Chelsea but they'd get 15-20 now, they'll sill get that if he has a bad w/c.
If he finished top scorer with 7 or 8 goals, he'd be getting called a beast, unplayable, and they'd get 40-50.
I think the money is available now and we'd like to buy him, I just don't think Chelsea or Lukaku want to do anything until the summer.
What he's worth and what I'd be prepared to pay are two different things. You overpay for young players with potential, and strikers are the most overpriced of the lot.
And finally having a striker worthy of playing for us mate would be worth overpaying a LOT for imo
I agree. At the start of the season I said I'd pay up to £30m for him, but after seeing him for half a season I realise he's not as complete as I thought. I'd still pay it if it's what it took, though. Providing a lot of it was performance based.
If we signed him I'd imagine he'd be straight over to Kone's house to rip that #9 off his back!
Starting to think this could actually happen. Roberto has given by far his strongest indication yet that he wants to keep him. If we get 4th place (big, big if) then I'm struggling to think why it wouldn't happen. I think Lukaku would actually be a bit mad to turn it down. He'd be a God here, at Chelsea he'd just be another player.
