Lukaku

I think any deal for lukaku would be dependent on the extra financial boost we'd get from CL footy, not to mention the chance for lukaku to be first choice striker in a CL team.

That is also notwithstanding Chelsea being willing to sell him.

Chelsea will want at least what the paid for him, which was around the £17-18million mark? May be totally wrong but I think that's what it was.

I don't doubt if RM says we have the cash then we do, but its the wages I would wonder at.

How much is Lukaku worth in today market? I would pay up to around 18 million.

15-20m, more likely towards the top end though of that, any deal will be sure to have a BIG sell on clause attached around the 25-35% mark and the likelihood of a buy back clause written in i guess, after the matic affair i can see that becoming something chelsea start attaching to younger players leaving - (think Barca and Madrid have both used those clauses extensively in the past)

w/c can go both ways though mate a dire tournament can reduce values as well as a good one can build on them plus he likely won't be starting as benteke is the coaches favorite for that role, and chelsea don't strike me as a club who wait to do anything, if they want shut the player goes, if they want to hold them they stay,

Lukaku's first choice for Belgium pal, not Benteke.

Even after a poor World Cup he'd still be worth 15-20 IMO as the hype over him is unnecessarily threw the roof. It was before he played for us, then he started on fire and it went into overdrive whilst in reality he's been average for weeks. The media don't tell anyone that though, he's the reason were we are where we are.

In all honesty, Lukaku is not that great, it's all still potential and I don't think for one minute he has a future at Chelsea but they'd get 15-20 now, they'll sill get that if he has a bad w/c.

If he finished top scorer with 7 or 8 goals, he'd be getting called a beast, unplayable, and they'd get 40-50.

I think the money is available now and we'd like to buy him, I just don't think Chelsea or Lukaku want to do anything until the summer.

What he's worth and what I'd be prepared to pay are two different things. You overpay for young players with potential, and strikers are the most overpriced of the lot.

By and large mate Benteke has been the starter when both are fit, especially so in the bigger games in qualifying, think benteke was injured during the last series of friendlies etc which meant they went with Lukaku, but unless the coach changes his team around will figure he will go with the ones who got him their as long as their still starting for their league teams etc and injury free, think most of the games lukaku started for Belgium came when they experimented with 2 up front which i dont think they'll go with for the wc

And finally having a striker worthy of playing for us mate would be worth overpaying a LOT for imo

I agree. At the start of the season I said I'd pay up to £30m for him, but after seeing him for half a season I realise he's not as complete as I thought. I'd still pay it if it's what it took, though. Providing a lot of it was performance based.

If we signed him I'd imagine he'd be straight over to Kone's house to rip that #9 off his back!

Agree mate about he isn't as good yet as i thought he was before we signed him, can actually see why mourinho didnt think he was ready yet, although he has some great parts to his game he needs to develop other parts (then again so does Barkley too), both imo will go on to be world class, and i reckon 20m is a fair deal for both parties involved for Luka

Spot on about that number 9, regardless of how he plays when back from injury he isnt deserving of wearing that shirt is kone

Starting to think this could actually happen. Roberto has given by far his strongest indication yet that he wants to keep him. If we get 4th place (big, big if) then I'm struggling to think why it wouldn't happen. I think Lukaku would actually be a bit mad to turn it down. He'd be a God here, at Chelsea he'd just be another player.

We'll only get him if Lukaku goes back and says "I want to play every game and be first choice" and Mourinho's ego goes into overdrive and he lets him leave.
