Lukaku

We'll only get him if Lukaku goes back and says "I want to play every game and be first choice" and Mourinho's ego goes into overdrive and he lets him leave.

That's the thing, under no circumstances can I see Lukaku being Chelsea's first choice striker next season. Mourinho clearly didn't think he was ready to lead the line this season, and his slightly patchy performances of late suggest he was right. I think they'll go all out to get an absolute superstar of a striker, as they do need it to match City. In which case I cannot see Lukaku wanting to sit on the bench at all.

It's a safe investment. Unless he gets a career ending injury, he'll not depreciate in value. He is not a Jeffers, his physicality alone makes him a useful striker, and he's shown he's got a striker's instincts, some top finishing and crucially is a huge team player. He goes mental when we score, even if it's not his goal.

Seeing as it is a World Cup year it makes sense that he needs to be playing regular football.
Next year he may decide that working hard to get in the Chelsea team is more important (if he still really wants to be a Chelsea player and JM still wants him).
If he isn’t in the Chelsea team by the end of next season then that would be his time to move.

Chelsea have just got in the region of £17 million for De Byrne a player who in reality did no show anything for them.
A reported £10 million profit.

I wonder if that there are more than two reasons why Chelsea signing up a significant number of young players with potential and in all this and I believe Lukaka is just another of them.
Of Course they would like the player to progress to their first team and although there are signs of him being a decent player will he ever become a top player?
So was the transfer of De Bryne the first signs that they are now going to operate a similar business model to clubs like Porto whereby they sign players loan them out all over the place to see if and how they develop . If of a standard to progress to the first team all well and good but if not selling players on for the odd million or ten profit.
The clever part from Chelsea's perspective, is that a player like Lukaka (who cost more like £10 million & not what some have quoted and signed on a 5 year contract )shows up as costing about £2 million a year in their accounts meaning he is now valued at about £5 million . First WBA and now Everton have to pay a fee to have the player on loan. If say Chelsea do indeed sell him on for say a bargain £20 million Chelsea show in one a profit of 15 million
Put all that together with RMs comments and I really do wonder if Chelsea knew exactly what they were doing and they already know that he isn't the player for them so will be looking to extract as much as possible but in truth a nice little £10 million or so profit will be very good business or them
In closing look just how many players Chelsea have on loan and how much they paid for them . Could well be someone is being very clever and opening up an income stream that deliver and the mugs in all this are the clubs who take the players on loan, develop them and see no financial benefit at all.
