do you reckon ? The sentencing guidelines for arson are pretty harsh and can include ‘psychological’ damage. I suspect he’d get more under that if they went down that route . No idea if they would mind

Not sure really, I used to work for Legal Aid as you never really saw 'small' arsons, they always tended to be criminal damages. Unless it was a building or something.

Colston Hall is being renamed.

Is this will be changed or to be changed but at a time to be determined. That's the problem about these slavery things, it's been on the agenda for many years to remove them or recognise their full history, however, nothing ever gets done!

Maybe we should forgive and move on regarding the lad on the cenotaph, it's a much more powerful message than anything else...

look that’s absolutely your opinion But the EDL still feed off poppy burning 12 years ago or whatever . The far right will be dinning out on this probably after I’ve gone and he’s almost certainly done his cause more harm than good.

There has been no division by those who voted in the majority. The division has come from those unwilling to accept the majority vote....and they should be ashamed to call themselves democrats......

I think this is the sort of thinking that has to go Pete. As you know, I've never really nailed my colours to either mast re Brexit and there is wrongdoing on both sides, but having a 52% majority does not mean you can just mess the country around for 4 years. They need to go and get a deal sorted, and stop essentially blackmailing people with the No Deal threat that hardly anybody voted for (remember Nigel Farage telling us we would stay in the customs union).

They remind me of a sales person who has won a contract, and hasn't bothered to write it out yet, because they want to go around telling everyone they won the contract and others didn't. For 4 years. Get on with it. Nobody cares who "won" and "lost" as it gets framed anymore. Thats been and gone. It's time to negotiate the best deal we can, or if they are unable to, do not be surprised if the original question gets raised again.

Serious monetary value is part of a category one offence, but so is serious physical and/or psychological harm and that'll be balanced versus/with culpability.

If he was ever charged and convicted with it (that's to be seen), any conviction within category one or two would result in a custodial sentence.

As @Harryflashman said, such a charge would be at a push, but again if you look back at Gilmour's son then a custodial in some form isn't unrealistic.

He decided to get up and burn a flag that will anger and disgust millions today. Are we suppose to ignore his actions.

Tbh the lad shouldnt be hammered when he's a victim of media brainwashing.

Not one media outlet, politician or high profile journo/celeb has asked why the death of a bloke at the hands of a cop in a country renowned for police brutality/racist problems gives people the green light to huddle together in their thousands and smash stuff up / cause bother in this one.

People can show support in other ways - funny how when terror attacks happen people change their profile pictures on FB or hold vigils - yet this is seen as fair grounds to cause trouble in the middle of a kin global pandemic.

All those who have sacrificed seeing family, friends, have lost jobs or businesses etc. over these last 3 months were spat in the face these past few days same as with what Cummings did imo and no one has the guts in the media or government to call it out.

Its not a race issue - plenty of black and BAME folk on twitter against what has gone on - its a blokes death in another country being politicised at the wrong time.

I'm talking about what has gone on here in the U.K mate. I don't expect BLM in the US to say anything but I do expect the organisers here to condemn the violence and vandalism. I haven't seen this mornings news but if they have done well great.

Staying silent is not an option, they have to distance themselves if they want the continued support of those who do condemn the violence

They have condemned it mate. BLM are a peaceful group who are inspired by Martin Luther King and his tactics. You probably saw a couple of teenage girls putting themselves between some protesters throwing projectiles and the police yesterday. The media need to find those girls and start amplifying their voices and their message. Not going back to the usual Tommy Robinson/Katie Hopkins set who just cause more division. Go and find those teenage girls who put themselves in harms way to protect the police. They've got more common sense and bravery than most political people combined.
