The whole prison thing... People should try working in one before coming up with the draconian shouts.

A lot of prisoner privileges are in place to protect the staff more than anything.

Exactly.

The best one is that murderers should never be released. Strangely enough the people who say that wouldn't go within a million miles of incarcerating a person who basically has nothing to lose.

no offence edge but it isn't really context - everyone accepts slavery existed (and exists) all over the place, the point is that currently people of Irish and European descent are not being actively discriminated against, battered or killed by cops, and have measurably worse social outcomes in Morocco, Tunisia etc

This is exactly the point.

Well, there is always the old favourite . . .

I did it ...
Yes I am roughly in the same quadrant.

Below shows the comparative placings of historical figures.

We are both Ghandi and should share a shandy.
I got Ghandi but near right on the line directly above , just under , dont know what that makes me??
I think the majority of a lot of posters on here will fall similarly. I am suprised I did not end up (a little) closer to authoritarianism but the questions seem somewhat loaded. The thing that will cause most difference will be whether you select 'agree' or 'strongly agree'.

I would say it probably makes you leaning more towards state interventions and Socialism.

I had hoped @ForeverBlue92 would test his centrist theory to be honest.
Seems about right.
I don't mind a bit of Blairism (invading countries aside).

I got close to you. A few squares more to the left and one square more libertarian.
You sunk my battleship!
Roughly where I expected it to be tbh.

Mines just 1 square above yours mate - great minds think alike eh ;)
I'm just above you and to the left, fairly close to where the axis cross, which is pretty much where I see myself
I've told you lad centre left but no nonsense on crime.

Ed Miliband was as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
Still not sure which part of your other politics put you centre left

See his test result.

think i am a lefty , with authoritarian leanings,
It is surprising the amount of politically based arguments that can occur here given that we all mostly landed on the Ghandi spot.

For future reference it would also appear urinating on the memorial of a posthumous George medal recipient also fufills the Criteria as soft lad has been charged .
It's actually an indictable offence under common law, which for those who understand such things means you can actually receive life for it - obviously he won't!

All they'll need to do is convince a jury that the actions were "lewd, obscene or disgusting" and below the minimum standards of expected public decency.

Peeing in public has been an offence for a little while hasn't it? Economist even had an article on it this week, albeit more from the angle of being outside whilst the public toilets are generally shut, and the resultant increase in people going wherever, but still.

Yes. In most cases, it's a sect 5. Public Order with disorderly conduct (causing harassment, alarm of distress): summary offence so fixed penalty notice or a bench.

Drunk and Disorderly is another option, but it is a found committing offence (prevent it from continuing), so you have to arrest at the time - can't do it afterwards.

Let's be honest, he probably didn't know it was there so it will depends if he's summonsed or charged to the crown: the former will probably go down to Sect 5.

Like I mentioned earlier though, outraging public decency is an indictable under common law so unlimited fine and/or maximum of life imprisonment.

If he's found guilty by a jury, which he would as the evidence is there, a heavy fine is on the cards or if he has previous maybe... just maybe... short custodial.

That article is behind the paywall but it has mate . This is a discussion we were having about the Keith Palmer memorial and the offence which this bloke charged is however significantly more serious than public urination as @PhilM has said its indictable only meaning he’ll be straight to crown court.

my comment was also in a lighthearted manner as Phil had given me pointers over my future outraging public decency conduct .

Thats an easy one- take away any privileges they have or long periods of isolation if they act up.

Imagine if teachers went soft on their kids in "fear" of them acting up - sadly thats part of the job description if you aint prepared to take the risk dont work in a prison!
