I suppose the truth can appear funny :)

There should really be a statue of Churchill and Attlee stood together (possibly Greenwood) for their unified stance against both those in the Tory party that wanted peace to retain empire and against Nazi Tyranny.

Such was Attlee and Churchills friendship and respect the frail and ill Attlee insisted on being the lead pal bearer carrying Churchills coffin at his funeral.

After the war, a Tory MP attempted to demean the Labour leader in Churchills presence, referring to him as “silly old Attlee”. A furious Churchill responded saying that “Mr Attlee played a great part in winning the war. Mr Attlee is a great patriot.”

I would guess that most of those statue defenders voted leave.

I've asked many a leaver on forums, including here because of their claims Brexit is a mixed bag on either side. What UK far right groups campaigned to stay in EU or now want a very close trade deal with EU?

Strangely never get an answer...

And it's something that this Government is going to have wrestle with. They have let the nationalistic dogs off the leash for political and ideology gain, and now these groups want their say in matters.

Its not going to be easy putting that leash back on.

A man has been arrested for outraging public decency apparently.

In the cold light of day I don't reckon he can be charged with anything other than peeing in a public place and since there are no public loos open .

google tells me this about outraging public decency so it seems it could fit

What constitutes outraging public decency?
Public decency is a level of behaviour which is generally acceptable to the public and is not obscene, disgusting or shocking for the observers.

Outraging public decency is an indictable common law offence which is punishable by unlimited imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine. To be guilty of this offence:

  • you must carry out an act which is lewd, obscene or of disgusting character, which outrages minimum standards of public decency as assessed by the jury;
  • the act must take place in a public place, or a place which is accessible to, or within view of, the public;

I mean wow a lot going on here. I think the protests have boiled over to the extreme. I think the way it has spread in other countries seems crazy. However, we have people in the US protesting other governments. So I feel like I can't criticize other countries sparked like this.

The whole whites being enslaved in Spain, Northern Africa thing isn't relevant to the US. Are whites in Spain and northen africa still suffering from that set back.

Did whites in spain go through jim crow kind of stuff? Are they followed in stores? Are whites in Spain getting choked out by cops like george floyd or the guy selling cigarettes illegally?

Shot like Breonna Taylor or Latasha Harlins?

Pulled over and shot while reaching for his license like that guy in Minnesota after he notified the cops he had a legally registered gun in his car and was reaching for his license and registration?

Its awful that guy died you mentioned, but a rebuttal for the whole situation to be like they killed this one white guy the same way. These white people were once enslaved. The whole argument is awful, and I noticed some of the people liking it. And I'm pretty disappointed.

Your post is either tone deaf or rooted in ignorance. You don't know history just because you mentioned the 16th century. You don't know the world because you mentioned one under reported white mans wrongful death. Which I didn't research. I don't know the circumstances of his death. Before you jump on this, I'm taking your word as fact and your whole point is still a pile of crap.

Why would attrocities be excused by, look we commit these atrocities against our own people. Believe me, it's not race related.

Lol at all that crap you posted.
Dont want to get into the ins and outs off the argument, but it wasnt just Spain it happened here and Ireland and across Europe ,a virtually a whole village getting taken in at least one case in Ireland, (Baltimore)
It's how the collections in church on a Sunday started to be widespread as they wanted to buy captured people back..
I doubt they went into a life of luxury , maybe at best to live as a janissaries to fight for there masters.
Nothing to do with your wider argument just putting a little historical context into what you are talking about.
hope you dont mind.

no offence edge but it isn't really context - everyone accepts slavery existed (and exists) all over the place, the point is that currently people of Irish and European descent are not being actively discriminated against, battered or killed by cops, and have measurably worse social outcomes in Morocco, Tunisia etc

Sorry if I havnt put that across clearly ;)

He was probably so blotto he didn't see the plaque. Once the media home in on him of course he may suffer but in this crazy world of instant celebrity he may also profit and end up on Big Brother or some such nonsense.

Putting my assuming attitude hat on... And ignoring the the bare chested swastika defender of Churchill statue yesterday.

I actually feel sorry for him and many others who have been manipulated to be their yesterday and do what they did.

They are evidently not happy and probably for same reasons that inspire those in BLM, are angry of social inequalities and all that entails in their lives.

Ozzy Osbourne widdled on the Alamo and now he gets treated like a rock star.

Not sure if this is the best thread to post this but couldn't see another one.

Just seen news footage of the lad getting shot in Atlanta.

Words escape me

I have dont have any sympathy for them either mate if you choose to put yourselves in a position like that , it's your own fault if you come unstuck,
simple if you dont want to get hurt dont get into a fight.

Thats basically it. There's no doubt some of the hidings people took were brutal, but I dont have much sympathy. You could see the lads who went there yesterday to try and protect statues, were the ones who left on the allocated way the police allowed. The troublemakers who hung around and went looking for it found what they were looking for and were in too deep. It sounds very vengeful, and I know I'm not a massively forgiving person but it is what it is. I think you've got a lot of fellas from places like Exeter, Colchester etc- essentially backwaters who can laud it over people in their own town and think the same rules apply. Once you start going into big cities they don't. Hopefully they learn a bit from it.
