Far right people are often far left in their opinions of the economy.

I hazard a guess not every part of your beliefs are left.

I believe life means life for murder - which is more centre right but I am against the death penalty which is more left/liberal.

None of my opinions correlate with far left or far right.

I agree with you on the death penalty. And I would also see longer sentences for certain crimes, in particular rape and sexual assault.

Im not claiming Rotherham was a one off or that only Asian gangs are abusing children - im saying that particular case was a clear racially motivated incident yet the same groups who supposedly fight for equality and against racism were nowhere to be found and the reason you have to assume was because the victims were white.

Thats why I cant take alot of these groups and the left seriously on this topic as they are just as politically blinded as the right who carry on like there isnt any white grooming gangs out there when there clearly is.
Who on earth are you talking about here?

Centrism for me is the only way - when you get bogged down in left vs right beliefs you get the petty squabbles like in this thread which ultimately achieve nothing.

For me its why UK politics has gotten worse these last few years as the big 2 parties have definitely moved away from the centre.

I agree with you on Centrism (or at least moderate policies and moderate change).

The reason I fixated on the army point mate is that it is an extreme view (and extreme views are dangerous for our social fabric and cohesion).

I consider myself centre left but some of my views on crime lean deep to the right and I have some views on things that lean all the way to the left. I can't see how anyone can pick a side and agree on absolutely everything one side says and disagree with the other.

Yeah im definitely more centre left on economy/immigration than I am on crime which I am largely centre right on.

Probably why I would love a modernised version of the SDP party as I feel there is just left or right in the UK at present which is a shame.

A little too much of anything is a bad thing as they say.

Yeah it should be weighing up a series of policies across the piece, party reputation and record of delivery.

Tribalism in politics isn't useful.

I'm against this current Government based on the above factors but I'm not automatically pro Labour (I've voted Green before). I will wait to see how the next 4 years unfold and what the offer is.

"I want the army on the streets against peaceful protests, I want police to bash people who deserve a good clip, I want law and order, I want none of this university nonsense and social justice, I want minorities to stop moaning and acknowledge that I've got it worse than any of them and I'm the same colour as the people they are moaning about...but I live in a council estate and indentify as working class so I must be centre left"

Christ alive.

We could do with a remade Lib Dem party. They're a complete joke currently.

Sadly I feel like we are heading towards US style politics where its either left or right populism.

Two party politics is a nightmare political system - the more credible opposition the better mate.
