It actually does mean that mate.

That's why I have a problem with the term, because it's self defeating when you have so many people of all races suffer from the socio-economic deprivation which actually fuels racial inequality. Blacks in our society are disproportionately part of the prison system not because of "White Privilege" but because they're more likely to be socio-economically deprived than a white person but not ALL white people.

Personally, I'd like the term replaced by something inclusive. It serves no purpose and only does harm. Any label that stereotypes an entire race or skin colour is pointless.

I always took White Privilege to mean that you are not discriminated against because you are white.

Which is true. You might be discriminated against because you are scouse, or fat, or female, but not cos you are white.

The fact is that on our TV they’re playing videos, that if you look askance at something that’s not white, you’ll immediately go to jail. YouTube is also full of such messages. According to this, the conclusion is that racism can be attributed to non-white on the field. This is a joke so far. But is she not far from reality?

That's what it is. But it's the word privilege which indicates you're "lucky" to be white, like you have an inherent advantage.

Try telling someone with an eating disorder they have "thin privilege" - for me it just doesn't work as a term, ignores too much and throws up mental barriers.

It really doesn’t mean that and no one has ever said it means that. It serves a lot of purpose as clearly people seem to be unaware that different factors have different effects on a person’s life

I know that many Ukrainians work in England. And they do not live all well (but better than at home, as they think). They can be said to be white. But white privilege does not work. This term is absolutely incorrect.

You do have advantage. That advantage might be mitigated by mental health, or body dysmorphia, or your race. But the ‘whiteness’ isn’t the thing that’s causing the issues.

No one would say that because it’s a horrific disease that confers no privilege and is a, quite frankly stupid, comparison

TBF a lot of people have saying it and explained it as meaning all white people are treated better than all black people; it’s the main reason the term is greeted with such alarm.

I’ve not seen much of that but of course that’s not right. But a few people mis defining the term doesn’t stop it being a useful term
