For me, rapists can be reformed - loads of factors into risk factors for that crime. Same with murders that were not necessarily premeditated.

Child murderers, serial killers, pedophiles though, nah I don't think there's a chance of it. Sentencing is ridiculously lenient.

I'm not as hardline as you are on this but I agree the scales have tipped too far the other way as they currently stand and sentences for certain things need to be much more severe. Not because they'd be a deterrent, but because the people who commit them will probably do it again when out. If you look at the people given whole life tariffs, for example, a lot of them are people who committed a murder and were released.

The threshold should be extremely high when considering the risk of letting out certain groups of people who commit very serious crimes. Even if the stats say 5% of serial killers again reoffend, that's still 5 in every 100 released killing again.

It's not like a shoplifter reoffending.

They both deserve to be properly recognised for this with an award for their bravery and selflessness.

It`s possibly the most uplifting thing that`s come out of all this, since it started.
