Liverpool fans are now stating that they can beat anyone in the world and don't fear anyone in the CL (despite failing to win half their CL group games including not winning vs the only decent team in their group in Seville), they are also talking about how they can add players to their team in January - the missing pieces for this seasons title challenge (despite being 14 behind City after 15 games).

They are deluded

Certainly not disputing this, they are the worst of the worst. They are not deluded for expecting to beat us this weekend however, they usually do.

Kenny you obviously don't rate, yet i find it kind of ironic that you use DCL getting abuse off some people as vindication for you to tear into another young player... as for your rating of him - stats show he is far from poor defensively or attacking wise, eyes would show you that he is actually a very talented young player who has now started to settle after stepping up with the team in awful form.

I don't rate him although I will never stick my flag in the ground and not change my position on any player I either rate/don't rate.I used to rate Schneiderlin and Mirallas and now I think both suck. From what I've seen he doesn't stand out at all in a truly garbage backline. I believe Baines needs to be replaced as early as January and Kenny doesn't offer much more than him (and Baines has the excuse of being 33).

My opinions pre hiring Allardyce are influenced by absolutely detesting him as a person and what he stands for mate, now he's here - he has to be analysed in what he does not what i think of him as a person, he knows how to play against teams like this Liverpool side - evidence he beat them last season with Palace at the pit, he beat them with Sunderland the year before - both sides managed by Klopp and containing largely a group of players much inferior to our side. He knows how to organise a team to sit and absorb pressure and deny a team space - much like Dyche did (Burnely drew this season at the pit) much like Mourinho does (they also drew at the pit) much like Benitez did - they also managed to draw this season vs Liverpool.

As for their record after European games you seem to be ignoring the actual stats and just stating that a 7-0 win can't see them gain anything other than massive confidence and improve them, they beat Maribor 7-0 away on a Tuesday and then went and absolutely stank the place out against Spurs and lost 4-1 at a ground they traditionally do very well at.

As i said, yes it is unlikely we get a result due to them being better than us, but seen a period they where a mile better than us in the 90's and they couldn't win a derby against us, football is cyclical, and all runs come to an end eventually, need proof of that, eventually our record against City will probably change away from the ridiculously good one it's been for ten plus years.

I also feel like you are making the mistake of confusing their performances against crap teams and mixing it with us. As I alluded to in my original post you simply can't compare derbies with other games. They are always bang up for these games, even since Gerrard and Carragher have gone. Sometimes we have gone into games against them on a 6-7 game unbeaten run and rolled over and got battered. Sometimes we've gone in being crap and got battered. We don't play well against them since the Moyes days and even when we finish ahead of them they usually beat us.

If we win though I'll be as elated as anyone. And congratulate you on your prediction.

We'll need to be perfect defensively to have a chance of getting anything

They haven't got the best defence, but it won't matter if we ship a bunch of goals at the other end

If the universe decides to smile upon us for one rare afternoon, then it'll probably have to be a 1-0 or 2-1 win, which means the defence will have to have the game of their lives

I think it’s easy to go along with the media narrative that they have an awful defence- they do for a so called “top side, but the facts state they’ve conceded two goals all season at home. When I read that, it puts me in total agreement with you that if we’re going to win it has to be a 1-0, with the defence all playing blinders individually and as a unit. Do we have the capability of beating them 1-0? Possibly. But anyone thinking it’s not an incredibly difficult task is kidding themselves.

Furthermore it’s hypocritical for us to say that “they’ve beaten no-one” when our two wins and clean sheets back to back come against West Ham (relegation certainties) and Huddersfield (have they even scored a goal away from home in the league all season?). Last year they struggled against the so called lesser teams who park the bus but this year their attack has found a way. It’s up to us to find a way to stop it.

When you score seven goals in a game you need to seriously look at the opposition rather than accepting that Liverpool are some super team.
Last Saturday when they were 2-1 up Brighton missed a gilt edged chance to make it 2-2 , Liverpool went straight down the field and made it 3-1.
Fine margins can make a big difference where teams are relatively close in terms of ability(Premiership compared to Russian league)

I think Sam Allyrdyce is good in these situations and has a history of getting unexpected results with far worse teams than Everton.

Sams approach with Palace etc. at Anfield was to negate their strengths and focus on their weaknesses. Presumably then half of his training this week will be about how we can hurt them where they are weakest.

Moyes would have spent it telling them how to keep the score down and come out alive.

Martinez probably showed them videos of Pique and Puyol and told them to copy it against a side that loves to press.

Koeman probably didn’t give a rats arse and probably said we didn’t deserve to win because we’re not as big as them and they’re not as big as Barcelona where he’d soon be off to.

I’m convinced we’ll keep a low line of defence, take no risks in possession at the back, play long into the channels out wide, man mark Coutinho, and have worked on specific set pieces. If we execute all these things properly why can’t we get a result?

Pickford
Kenny Holgate Williams Jagielka Baines
Davies Gana Rooney
DCL Niasse

Can’t hsve Jags or Baines for me. If we were 1 up in the 89th minute one of them would blast one into their own net because they’re so uncomfortable at the thought of winning. Their spineless, would rather have Williams and Martina for this game.

Alternatively if West Ham had scored their penalty against us we wouldn't have romped to a 4-0 win and they could've got something. You cannot use any ifs buts or maybes when a team has just won 5-1 away and two games 7-0 in the same season. We probably won't see us achieve that in our lifetime.

I'am really dreading this.

Most other years i feel we have a chance of nicking something.

This year, with our defence as fragile as it is, I've got a terrible feeling that we could take a serious battering.

If we capitulate as we did at Southampton, it could get embarrassing.

I really hope i'm wrong.

They’re going to come out of the blocks like a train and if we concede on the first 10 minutes it’ll get embarrassing before half time.

Klopp is going to highlight one of the full backs and over load him, it’ll more than likely be Cuco the Clown. Salah will have a field day against him.

Either DCL or Niasse are going to be massively isolated, they’re going to be chasing nothing balls all game.

I'd start Niasse as he's - imo - going to be more likely to harry and hassle their defence and then capitalise on a mistake than DCL would.

Get Lennon on the right keeping the width, and Gyfli pressing up with Niasse.

Rooney sitting just behind with Gana and Davies (or Schneiderlin) as the midfielders to get about the pitch.

Defence is the worry.

Aye pretty much what i think we will go with - although think he may start with DCL after his goal, and hope to throw Niasse on last 30 if the game is still level/we are ahead etc

I actually don't think they are always bang up for it mate, just they are more up for it than us typically, can remember countless times they have looked flat themselves or not anyway close to how they've been playing also, just on those days we have been even less up for it, we've masked that post Moyes by turning in about 3 absolutely appalling derby performances though which made them able to win at a canter without even having to be up for the game.

IF we turn up well drilled with the right attitude to this game, then this current rs side i have zero idea how they will respond to a 'old fashioned' derby game

As for Kenny, all i can say is that i believe you are massively wrong about him and he will go on to be a very good player for this club for a long time.
