Oh dave, you think clean sheets at home to West Ham and Huddersfield give us a chance when going to Anfield.

I've got some news.

Give them no space to play in behind and a good Championship team can hold them off for the vast majority of a game.

I have to underline again: this is Liverpool we're talking about here. They've won just one trophy that any real top club would desire in the last three decades. They are second tier of the PL elite. They have a defence that can be almost as bad as ours has been this season. We have players who have troubled them before starting for us and a manager who has done the same in the recent past.

I think the time has come to just get up off our knees and join battle here. If we get beat we move onto January and try again. If we get no joy there we look to the second league derby at Goodison That's how it works.

It's not in me to fear them. I 'kin loathe them and that's as far as it goes. I'd be embarrassed to be afraid of them. Utterly embarrassed.

In fairness, playing away in Slovenia and then away to Spurs is a bit different to playing at home and then facing the quivering wreck that is Everton at Anfield.

I agree that we're unlikely to get anything from the game, and I don't really understand the idea that us being realistic about our chances somehow transmits itself to the players and makes them capitulate. Three years ago we turned up there quite confident and bullish and put in one of the most cowardly, embarrassing, performances I've seen in any game nevermind a derby.

They did have an extra days rest for the first set of games though mate, so pretty much cancels out the home/away factor for the CL games

Against Spurs they just turned up over confident against a Spurs side with a very well drilled plan on what to do against them, we will do the same and they will come in over confident, question really is - will we be good enough to capitalise on any complacency they show.

I do think that their back 4 and keeper are due a couple of howlers though -, and both Niasse and DCL are the types who can capitalise on it if and when they do.

Chances are they will beat us ofc, it's at Anfield and they have better players all said and done.

Sigurdsson scored the winner for Swansea to win 3-2 at Anfield in January 17.

Rooney has been there and won with Utd.

Our youngsters DCL, Kenny, Pickford, Davies are fearless. Although Davies is a red card cert if he starts I think!

Let's end this loser outlook!

Niasse scored the winner against them last season with Hull as well

Most important thing is that the team maintains it's shape and focus for 90 minutes and takes advantage of any mistake they make at the back - and they will make at least a couple of mistakes.

Keep this game scoreless or even go ahead in the first half then this turns this into a different game altogether than what a lot think, their crowd are expecting a cricket score, we frustrate them and capitalise on any defensive mess ups and the atmosphere will change massively.

I do agree with most of what you've said there, but I'm under the firm belief that they could give 11 children out the crowd a red shirt and we'd lose.

The key is not to fear a defeat. Every game is a clean sheet. If our supporters and players go there with the weight of recent history bearing down on them its a foregone conclusion.

Allardyce's simple message should be: "You have the honour of being the team that goes out there and ends this sequence of results. Seize your opportunity".

We'll get smashed, but I'd play 5-3-2

Kenny, Holgate, Williams, Keane, and Martina sitting as deep as they can, no space for their wide men because if we give them 2 a yard they'll punish us

Gueye and Rooney in front of them, get them all over Coutinho from the first minute because he's the only one they've got who can create from the middle. Sigurdsson as the attacking mid trying to launch counters for the strikers

Then Niasse and DCL, reckon them 2 can cause Klavan and Lovren problems because they'll both chase the ball all game, who knows they might get lucky and find themselves 1v1

Bit of a joke that I wasn't considered for the managers job really

that actually sounds like as good a plan as any hahaha

I’m totally sick of our inferior complex with this lot
Our team and fans act like cowards
Just get into them and get some positivity going

They are decent going forward but weak at the back
Our mind set is pathetic. We need to work our socks off closing down. Don’t leave space behind us and frustrate them. Defend in groups and be aggressive
Blimey you’d think we are playing barcelona!!!
We have played city and should have won and they are much better than Liverpool
I’m glad I’m not fighting in any trenches with you lot.
2 clean sheets on the bounce and a bit more confidence please COYB.
Is right lad, [Poor language removed] em

We'll need to be perfect defensively to have a chance of getting anything

They haven't got the best defence, but it won't matter if we ship a bunch of goals at the other end

If the universe decides to smile upon us for one rare afternoon, then it'll probably have to be a 1-0 or 2-1 win, which means the defence will have to have the game of their lives

Sit on the edge of our own area, go down like flies (and stay down, trainer on the pitch) at any opportunity and frustrate them.
Put a few of them in the stands as well, about time we became snide, good place to start is the pitt.

im a lot more confident of getting a result with fat sam than with unsworth like

if we would have went into this game with unsworth in charge it'd be abar 9-0

They barely created anything at home v Chelsea or United. They were poor against Sevilla at home. Should have dropped points to Palace at home. The only team in the league they’ve flayed at home is Arsenal. Poor teams have gone there and caused them problems.

Perception is being swayed by 3 of the last 4 results. 13/14 Martinez played a team that he never should have with half fit players all over it. 15/16 he’d lost the plot and they got us at a perfect time. 16/17 injuries to Coleman and Schneiderlin ruined our prep as well as Robles going on a holiday. Aside from that though their record at Anfield hasn’t been amazing with most games ending in a draw.

When we’ve gone there not in complete disarray, solid and organised, we’be made a game of it most times. The other heavy beating wa the B team Moyes put out before the Cup quarter final.

We almost won there with Beckford playing upfront FFS.

These are not 1970s Brazil, into them Blues.

Never dreaded a derby as much as this one, they are on fire up front.

If he plays Coutinho, Sane, Firmino and Salah we are royally screwed.

I'd start Niasse as he's - imo - going to be more likely to harry and hassle their defence and then capitalise on a mistake than DCL would.

Get Lennon on the right keeping the width, and Gyfli pressing up with Niasse.

Rooney sitting just behind with Gana and Davies (or Schneiderlin) as the midfielders to get about the pitch.

Defence is the worry.

here,s a thought Tony Bellew centre back and big Dunc C/F - knock a couple of the R/S out - least we will have something to cheer about !
