Lescott dropped

I don't know if you maximise a players value by slating his attitude in public - so that's a negotiating subtlety that's passed me by.

Also not too sure how beneficial it is to the club to have a player who may now have a poor relationship with his manager, his team-mates & the supporters - but again, perhaps I'm missing the subtlety of Moyes' motivational technique.

Moysey a banana skin?

By doing this it could have 2 effects. It could warn other teams of what type of player they would be getting, so they may think twice.
It could also re focus Lescott for fear of missing the world cup.
Personally i think it was the only option open to Moyes to do what hes done. Lescott is the one at fault here, not Moyes or the club. He deserves nothing more than to be seen for what he is.

this is just my thoughts and nothing else...

when we played barcelona tonight richards wasnt even in the squad, nedum played at right back and was outstanding......petrov also played the full 90 mins for us although didnt look happy when he scored so maybe its petrov or even richards as being touted about as player plus cash for lescott ??

Well lets play Devils advocate here for a minute :

Joleon signs a new contract at Everton and is happy here, we finish 5th, reach the cup final and go into summer looking to progress.

Man City try to sign John Terry but eventually give up and turn their attention to Lescott. 2 bids are made (i believe £15m and £18m).

Everton meanwhile sign no one and it begins to increasingly look like the same players who worked their asses off for 5th place and FA cup runners up are gonna have to do it all again just to stay where they are.

Lescott sees this (as do a lot of our own fans, how many times has it been said on here). He sees Man City want him, he sees a chance to make double his money (ok not confirmed but pretty much likely) and to play with players like Robinho and Tevez with a team who it can't be denied are doing what they can to break in to the top 4 and win things.

What does he do? He has a choice to make and not an easy one. He thinks it over and decides that he wishes to play for Man City so puts in a transfer request. I'm sure thats why he waited so long as opposed to him making up his mind the minute the first bid came in and just wanting to leave Everton in [Poor language removed].

But his request gets denied by Moyes and that causes conflict. Joleon tells Moyes his head isn't right because of the whole issue and its best for Everton if he doesn't play against Aresnal (which seems pretty honest and upfront to me, shows he does actually care) but Moyes plays him anyway.

We get spanked 6-1 and Joleon becomes an easy target to blame. What about the other 10 players, why didn't they let the club down with their performance.

Obviously he is still not right in his head and able to dedicate himself 100% to Everton Football Club so Moyes drops him from the team.

At which point talk of his attitude being wrong means he is sulking seemingly.

Nobody has any proof that that isn't whats happened and the truth, as per usual its all speculation and one persons word, interpreting statements to fit your own views.

Fair enough that could all be wrong and he is a money grabbing judas but i dont know, no one here does. So i will not judge him.
I think you missed the part when LAST CHRISTMAS mr Lescott enthused about the exciting times at city while here at Everton we have to make do. this article was brought up by the echo.

Richards would no doubt, be my pick as he has enormous potential and we desperately need a right sided full back. So, 30million + Richards...deal?:D

lets be realistic.. 18 million and richards would defo swing it for me

imagine in a few years

richards--- jags--- rodwell---- baines

Richards is rated at about £10m and why on Earth would City give us a player they rate? They are trying to build a squad and Richards would make a good squad player, if not first teamer.

Forget Richards, we arent gonna get a good player.

Interesting indeed. And what a nice avatar, certainly looks better than our current home kit as is.

.

Just take it that Moyes doesn't want too sell him, so de-valueing him by slating his attitude, has no negatives for DM. He's set the bar at £30Million, a ridiculous figure for a player of Lescotts ability and potential, and one either City bite the bullet and pay, regardless of any assumed de-valuation, or they walk away from the table....Both results favour Everton and DM.

Maybe once the dust has settled and the window closes, JL has a word with himself and issues a public apology to his team-mates and gets on with the job of playing football

Moysey is bananaman

It's nothing to do with who's at fault, even if there is any merit in playing the blame game (which I can't see), it's a matter of Moyes managing the situation in the best interests of Everton - that's what he's paid to do.

I see, so you reckon Moyes motivational strategy, should we keep hold of Lescott, is to encourage a rift now & hope it can be healed in a couple of weeks time via the spectacle of public humiliation of the player concerned. That should rocket us right up the table! (y)

I don't claim to be a physcologist or to have an insight into the mind of David Moyes, but I see nothing wrong with the methodlogy of stripping someone bare and putting them down, and then building them up again only this time into a more focused stronger person....

Thats how the military do it ....seems to work for them when you look at the quality of their non-commissioned officer cadre

Whether it can be applied sucessfully to professional footballers is another matter, and one that I hope turns out in our favour.

Probably one of the most sensible posts i've ever seen on here.
