Lescott dropped

Moyes has lost the plot. Lescott is to 'blame' for a 6-1 defeat. FFS. Scapegoating a player (even one half way out the door) is not good management. I'm sure the rest of the squad are looking on in admiration at that statesmanlike move from the manager. Meanwhile, Moyes gradually softens his 'none of my players are leaving, full stop' stance and caves in....which, of course, the scapegoating of the player is designed to cover.

Spot on mate.

scapegoat or not, if lescott goes to city he is going to be at the front of the barmby, speed, rooney queue.

I don't think Moyes is making him a scapegoat. He's said Lescott's attitude has not been right since the Arsenal game, and if it hasn't then he's right to drop him. I agree if/when he goes he's gonna get the Rooney treatment, perhaps worse.

i agree, but this whole things stinks of ' as soon as lescott leaves all will be well in the happy squad of everton fc'.

i think most papers and fans will blame him for the unrest and subsequent poor start to the season.

i was confident he would not go to city, but now i'd be surprised if he was still here in september.

city can just end all this now with a 30 million bid. it's not as if they are borrowing on future season ticket sales to fund it.

Moyes is playing a very tricky wicket.

On the one hand he looks naive to think that this was going to go any other way than it is.. ie: lescott sulking his way out / team spirit and morale seriously upset etc..

Alternatively he could be giving lescott the rope he needs to hang himself whilst wetting city's lips to the max.. so they turn out their pockets nicely.

which of these is the actuality i don't know.. i just hope its sorted super soon so we can take the money and get on with building this team and starting our season.

"All I have done [dropping Lescott] is make a decision for this game that may or may not be the right decision but Saturday's performance against Arsenal made me realise that I had to do something. I couldn't let it drift."

The association between Lescott's presence and Saturday's performance there for all to see.

Which is funny because, post-match, he said "I'll take responsibility, I need to do better with the players I have".

He's contradicting himself at every turn and losing respect because of it.

Come on Davek lid. I've said before Moyes is taking blame himself because he went into the Arsenal game ill prepared, he's not blaming anyone.

The transfer window, Lescott and Citeh were probably more on his head that preparing for that Arsenal game and he knows it. He already said Lescott wasnt in the right frame of mind but played him anyway which is why he's blaming himself because he should've done something about him, and the team, before hand.

how is that not taking responsibility? and besides he never blamed lescott for it in the quote, he just said his attitude was poor after the game, which it more likely was. either way that is still the arsenal game making him realize that he need to change something.

sorry davek still failing to see where moyes states it was lescott's fault for the 6-1 drubbing, i actually think moyes blames himself not lescott
