Lescott dropped

Everton meanwhile sign no one and it begins to increasingly look like the same players who worked their asses off for 5th place and FA cup runners up are gonna have to do it all again just to stay where they are.

Lescott sees this (as do a lot of our own fans, how many times has it been said on here). He sees Man City want him, he sees a chance to make double his money (ok not confirmed but pretty much likely) and to play with players like Robinho and Tevez with a team who it can't be denied are doing what they can to break in to the top 4 and win things.

I agree with this bit 100%.

I've supported Moyes' stance concerning Lescott all along.
And I've found it interesting how Hughes has addressed the press using words specifically designed to call Lescott to heel and to piss Moyes off; whereas Moyes has been honest and straight throughout. Whether you agree with Moyes or not, you don't have to decode his utterances.

I can't see how the dropping of Lescott from the team to play Sigma and the accompanying statement is in any way blaming Lescott for Saturday's humiliation. It is just a timely reminder to Lescott that he already has a manager and playing along with MH's games is pretty low.
Lescott is helping to create the bad atmosphere that appears to be present behind the scenes at Goodison. The lack of fresh talent is also an avoidable factor here.

This is why I think the time to cash in on Lescott (£15m + Richards would be an excellent deal), merely because it would appear that the prick has shown himself not to give a toss about his teammates, his manager or us.
Stem the bleeding before it hemorrhages and the season is ruined.

All I know is it's rare when anyone in this world doesn't have to do something they don't want to or never gets handed a set of cards that wasn't in their favour, it's called life FFS. Plenty of footballers complain about not being able to lead a normal life yet, when push comes to shove, they really don't want to...they just want things on their terms because they get told they're "special". These f*ckers kick a ball around and, in all reality, there's absolutely nothing special about them. All they are is lucky, just like someone who was lucky enough not to be born into a 3rd world country in complete poverty.

Joleon Lescott is lucky to even be alive after what happened to him as a young man let alone to be f*cking about with a leather ball for more money in a week than the average person earns in a year. This individual has lost all sense of perspective in his life and so has anyone who is questioning the stance Moyes has taken.

How anyone can go to Alder Hey and talk all that [Poor language removed] (which is what it was if this is how he acts now when faced with soooooo much distress in his life) and then act like this is absolute bollocks.

Isnt the Argentine called "banger"?

I don't claim to be a physcologist or to have an insight into the mind of David Moyes, but I see nothing wrong with the methodlogy of stripping someone bare and putting them down, and then building them up again only this time into a more focused stronger person....

Thats how the military do it ....seems to work for them when you look at the quality of their non-commissioned officer cadre

Whether it can be applied sucessfully to professional footballers is another matter, and one that I hope turns out in our favour.

Likewise, I can't really claim expertise in that area & I'm not sure how much the military do that whilst the personnel concerned are actively engaged on a campaign. However, I do know a manager is primarily judged by the results on the pitch & so if he felt this was what Lescott needed maybe it would have been advisable to do it prior to the start of the season, as Lescott ain't much use to us if he's not on the pitch, or putting in sub-standard performances when he is on it, & if there's a knock-on effect for the rest of the squad then that's even worse.

Everton will demand £30million from Manchester City for Joleon Lescott after David Moyes finally lost patience and ordered the defender to train by himself.

City will contact Goodison Park bosses with an improved offer of £22m after failing with recent bids of £15m and £18m, but will be told to go even higher to end the saga over Everton's disgruntled England centre half.

It will be a test of City's apparent willingness to pay whatever is required land their main targets. But they are expected to reach a compromise, nearer Everton's valuation than theirs, to partner Lescott with Kolo Toure at the heart of their defence.

Nightmare start: Joleon Lescott (right) struggled in Everton's 6-1 opening day defeat by Arsenal

Moyes finally snapped over the stance adopted by his £5m signing from Wolves and admitted his sullen mood was having a negative effect on the rest of the squad.

Dismayed by the lack of fight in an opening 6-1 home humiliation by Arsenal - and Lescott's subsequent demeanour in training - he informed the 27-year-old that he would not be taking part in Thursday night's Europa League qualifier against Sigma Olomouc and ordered him to train alone.

Moyes insisted he was more determined than ever to keep Lescott at Everton. But, as he pursues a list of targets headed by Middlesbrough's David Wheater and City's Richard Dunne, who could be included in a part-exchange deal, it seems certain he will relent if City come close to Everton's asking price.

Moyes, who is also closing in on Russia winger Vladimir Bystrov, spoke yesterday about how even Lescott's team-mates have become disillusioned by his lack of commitment.

'His attitude has been poor post-Arsenal,' said Moyes. 'I have made a decision now and though we have always thought of him as a good boy, things have happened that have changed him. After September 1 he needs to get his head back around it.

The back of him? Manchester City will hope Joleon Lescott has played his last Everton match

'It has not been one thing, it is just generally. Normally he is a very good trainer and very focused but he doesn't seem to be that at this present time. It doesn't mean the end of his Everton career.

'He might be in the first-team squad for this weekend if I see there is a change in his attitude. His reaction to being left out was just a normal football reaction.

'Joleon has said he would rather move, I have chosen to ignore it and not go with it. We have not had a significant enough offer for us to sell and that remains the case.

'I have never wanted to sell him but as I said before Ronaldo was sold by Manchester United, there will always be a price for a player. But Manchester City have not come close to meeting ours for Joleon Lescott.

'Personally, the biggest disappointment is that the people who have been advising him are giving him poor information and have turned a good lad into something else. I can see by the reaction of his team-mates that they are disappointed in him as well. Until his attitude changes he won't be included.

'But it is not inevitable that he is leaving now. All I have done is make a decision for this game that may or may not be the right decision but Saturday's performance against Arsenal made me realise that I had to do something. I couldn't let it drift. It doesn't mean his valuation has dropped. If anything it has made my resolve stronger.
With Phil Jagielka still out injured, Moyes has further defensive problems ahead of the visit of Czech side Sigma and admits he must chose between skipper Phil Neville and England Under-21 star Jack Rodwell to play in defence alongside Joseph Yobo.

Where's Joleon? Everton train at Finch Farm today

The former Preston boss continued: 'I know this is a gamble, but I hope we can get back on the right road now after the 6-1 defeat by Arsenal. That has damaged our confidence, and our reputation.
'We have to rebuild that again. We are starting as low as we can go, but maybe we needed it. Maybe I have been telling the players that they are too good, too often.
'Maybe they need to back to doing the basic things and progressing their careers. Back to basics now and back to playing much better.

Decisive: Everton manager David Moyes

'We have a lot of consciences, players here keen to put things right. They are embarrassed by that performance, but the place to put it right is on the field.
'That is where they need to show me and the fans how they feel about Saturday. I agree that the fans will be hoping to see something better than what they experienced at the weekend.
'I haven't got it out of my system, not for a long while. It will always be there, but we are preparing for the next one and aim to still finish at the top end of the Premier League.'
He added: 'We know a bit about Sigma, we had them watched at the weekend and have also viewed the DVD of their games with Aberdeen. They must be a decent side to have scored eight in that tie.
'I have talked to Aberdeen manager Mark McGee, and we know what we are up against. They are hard-working and well organised.
'They are not at the same level as Standard Liege, who knocked us out of the UEFA Cup last season. But we need to find our form very quickly.
'This is massive for Everton this season. A lot of clubs spent a lot of money and didn't qualify while we did. But the Europa League excites me, I really want this club to do well in it.'
