Left Back Debacle

Im just wondering how the hell we went from having Baines, Oviedo, Galloway and Garbutt in the LB position, to Martina within the space of 18 months.
Its criminal really. I remember discussing how it's stifling development being so overloaded with options in that area.

I'm sorry but prioritizing signing Walcott over a left back should see anyone involved in that decision booted out of here. It's glaringly obvious to anyone with eyes where our biggest weakness is and it isn't on the wings despite how crap they've been.

* raise hand for Kieran Tierney *

Sessegnon looks a touch too young to solves Everton's left back position. Looks great going forward but can he handle the bread and butter defending stuff?

Sessegnon could play till the end of the season and coached by allardyce and team would soon learn defensively...

In any case his attacking threat would push the opposition back and he's so quick he can recover...

Perfect long term and short term signing...if he still needed developing then no harm in signing an older player in summer short term

Amazing how many of our players get horror injuries. In the last 10 years alone Cahill multiple metatarsal fractures, Arteta ACL rupture, Yakubu ACL rupture, Jagielka ACL rupture, Anichebe broken leg and medial ligaments, Hibbert that virus that nearly killed him, Coleman double leg fracture, Barkley broken leg, Oviedo fracture and knee ligament, Funes Mori medial ligaments, Bolasie ACL ligament. That’s before you even get to the numerous long term muscle injuries the likes of McCarthy has had.

Brazilian Rodrigo was the worst for us....

Have you considered the possibility that signing Walcott might not have an affect on the search for a left back?

Considering that we don't have a bottomless pit of money I'm going to suggest it does.

Not to mention you've got Allardyce saying "One at a time". We're spending time and resources bringing in Walcott who is less of a priority in my opinion than a left back.

didn't we concede something like 3 goals in 8 or 9 games when BS first arrived? that would suggest a left back isn't a "major" problem, we can get by. However scoring goals is what wins games. :)

Can’t see us getting a LB after the Garbutt announcement.
However, this thread made me think about it.... we brought in Cuco as very poor cover for Coleman because Koeman rated Kenny worse than Cuco. As if that’s not bad enough we intended to use the said Cuco as cover for Baines too even though he is a right back. This from a club finishing 7th in the EPL, with a billionaire owner and purportedly the best talent scout in the country!!
So, how could it have been worse, a true debacle... perhaps if we had brought Geri Deloufeu back from loan and made him play Left Back? Or tried to play Ashley Williams at LB... I am sure others can devise a worse debacle than this?

What a “Carry on” eh Charles!

Remember when star strikers were a premium luxury on the market? Why has a position Phil Neville played from time-to-time suddenly become impossible to fill.
Don't recall him playing LB there more than twice. Tho, tbf, I actively try to forget that Phil fn Neville ever played for us, much less was a captain for year.
