Lots of articles and they're all wrong? Your citing the emergence of Variant Covers as opposed to a mainstream worldwide cinematic universe for the uptick in comic sales??

I just don't think your old enough to remember a time when making films like these wasn't possible. Point 2 - the market can be a very fickle thing? The mouse doesn't tolerate failure? Why should it? Its a business. The Dark Knight made a massive amount of money in 2008. Batman has been incredibly profitable down the years. Why would this suddenly dry up? You got Batman movies there that have been loved, critiqued as being revolutionary for the genre, and then you get this version which stinks out the cinema and low and behold doesn't make any money.
I just think you and
@Prevenger17 need to realise that no matter what you think as a whole, Marvel make quality. You might not think Black Panther is anything special like
@Bryan , but you're entitled to your opinion and you don't work in the medium so can't see how good the design of the film is. Marvel stuff is impeccably Cast, produced, directed with no fuss. No behind the scenes turmoil and half baked ideas. They're like Man City to DC's West Brom (or us) at the minute, but it can change. Aquaman could be amazing - turn the whole thing around. I'll go see it at the movies, I love these films. Hating on DC is a very niche market. How could you hate Batman and Wonder Woman? If you do them badly, that's how.
What those sales don't take into account is that it's not the amount of comics being sold that they are measuring, it's the amount ordered by comics stores who order far more then they need to BECAUSE of the very large increase in variant covers.
Not one of those sources are credible on this issue because they don't understand the matter nor how the order to sales ratio works. The reason bumps sometimes happen in sales has zero to do with the films but is down to the renumbering of issues back to #1 as most casuals find the idea of starting reading at say #359 a bit intimidating and don't understand that it's the same principle jumping on point.
As for saying I'm not old enough to remember a time when fluff action films weren't possible, I'll take it as a compliment (even if It wasn't meant as one). Comic films being the IT thing right now is nithing special, the film industry goes through phases like that. War films had it once, wresterns had it, si-fi had it in a massive way, genetic popcorn action flicks had their day. Right now its Marvel's turn to be popular. Good for them, but there's nothing special about it.
Your right that Disney is a buissness which is why they should understand that their current marketing strategy will collapse eventually in a big way and it will happen sooner and harder of they insist on making trash like Black Panther and Ragnarok.
You ask why would Batman dry up as an entity? Well the character hasn't. I've already demonstrated that the movies the DC charecters have been in this far have made more then their marvel counterpart of the same number. Swap the positions around for a second, would think it reasonable to expect Marvel who are on their fifth film to be making the same financial gain as DC who are about on their twentieth? It's not reasonable to suppose they'd be able to show up and overthrow and established movie brand. Especially when the critics will pan them every chance they get simply because they aren't the other brand.
As for saying I don't work on the industry therefore I can't understand it, well that's a silly argument. This whole site is for passionate blues arguing their beliefs on the club, yet I'm willing to bet that nobody on here has ever had a major role within the running of a major football club (it would be great of after all this time we found out that
@chicoazul was actually Big Dunc winding us all up!lol). It doesn't make their opinion mean any less.
Anyway to my final point, Marvel films are far from impeccably cast. I've despaired at so.e of the choices made. Fourtmore we don't know what tremoil goes on in production at Marvel films. I've read loads of stuff on the subject but they don't get the worldwide exposure on the subject like a DC film would. As for saying no half baked ideas, well Ragnarok is the mother of half baked ideas!
I do like your point comparing Marvel/Disney to Man City because it's very apt though not for the reasons you think. Just like City can buy the league, Disney has bought success and will financially crush those who oppose them. Perfectly reasonable from a buissness stand point but horrible for both football and the movies.
You finish by asking how could some hate Batman and Wonder Woman ect? There's several reasons for it. The biggest being they aren't under the marvel umbrella and another being critics don't like comic films as a whole yet have excepted the popularity of marvel nut will be dammed if they will tollrate another company do the same. Hating on a show, company or film series is far more common then you'd think or I'd like it to be. Look no further then the ludicrous star wars vs star track B.S. as though you can't just enjoy both.
These posts are getting to long!lol
Anyway I'm off to Goodison to watch us pull of the shock of the season and hammer the RS 5-0! COYB!
