This side is a different kettle of fish to the one Rooney left, though.

In every way that matters to top Footballers it is precisely the same as the one Rooney left. We aren't in CL or challenging for honours year in year out, nor are we paying sky high wages. Until we start doing a couple of those things, top players will still think the grass is greener elsewhere.

Yes, the quality has improved significantly and we are showing progress but that is all irrelevant until it bears fruit.

Everton's media profile is not what it was in 2004. Its higher.

We also have quality all over the pitch.

Its nonsense to state otherwise.

Very subtle of you though.

Pretty sure we are in the mix for winning the Title and the FA Cup currently.

Granted, a slim chance for the Title, but the Season Rooney left we just finished 17th, its a different Everton, im not stupid, we cant compete with the "richer" clubs, we cant compete with the CL clubs, but its not 2004, Everton will not finish 17th, we enter Xmas 2 points off the top of the league and are holding our own against our peers.

Ross is 1 of us, Rooney was 1 of us, but its a different Everton, Ross is a different person, who knows what choice Ross will make, but 9/10, when Clubs accept bids for players, the player normally leaves, its not up to Ross, its up to every other Club in the world, Ross is for sale, every player in the world is for sale, as it stands I wouldnt sell him for any price, but every player has a price, I wouldnt have sold Rooney, not even for 50m and I wouldnt sell Ross for 100m, but im not the Chairman of Everton.

I can see why you're accused of being a red.

You make very very subtle comments like this in between ' normal' posts.

Its kind of really subtle but you've repeated the assertion Barkley will be gone.

Very much like some of the RAWK comments. We also caught one of them posting here the same thing earlier today. On a wind up. Caught 'red' handed.

He was bragging about saying the same thing on here on RAWK

TBF on the lad we have sold everyone of our so called best players bar baines so far under Kenwrights control.

We finished 4th the season after Rooney left so it wasn't too shabby but i would agree this team is better.

That is an excellent post.

Again, a nice sentiment but utterly irrelevant unless it bears fruit. If we make the Champions League next year then it's all well and good.

If we fail to make the Champions League then those that did will cast their eye over Ross, and you know enquiries will come flooding in. I'm not saying his head will instantly be turned, I believe he will give us at least another year because he is still developing. But sooner or later, and I'm talking within the next 2 years, if we can't offer those CL riches then he will have agents in his ear.

This lad can be every bit as good as Rooney, and he only has to have a look at the success he has achieved. These are the things that agents, managers and players on international duty will be saying in his ear, in every corridor before every match. This is how these things work and no matter how deep his love for Everton, ultimately if we can't help him realise his potential as one of the very best, he will go.

You all cry to much about kopites pundits tbh, bit stupid given the massive praise we have been given this season from Hansen, Carragher, Souness, Redknapp etc.

Just makes you all look a bit mental crying about them, we have been getting bummed by the media for several weeks now.

But not hard enough. And with too much lube. Everyone knows we at GOT like bareback bumming ffs.

Makes no sense to sell him even if that was the intention, his value will rise over the next two seasons into the Bale money.

It makes you wonder who, among the legion of youth players released under his tenure with their dreams shattered, might have been a success here if Moyes had been prepared to trust youth.

I think it's the dreaded "attitude problems"

Januzaj has been roundly praised for "having the best attitude I've ever seen" or some such comment

To get a push under Moyes it seems to be that you either need to be a favourite of the people above him or you need to kiss up to him something rotten. Otherwise, you'll be lucky to play 20 minutes every 4 weeks and you'll get booted after a few years for "having a bad attitude"

Zaha is now sadly finding this out

I'm not convinced it's entirely about attitude. I always thought that was one of Moyes' key strengths: building team spirit. He weeded out the bad eggs and helped the squad all pull in one direction.

I just don't think he was very good at spotting the potential of youth.
