This is seems like Steve Mcmahon all over again.
Eh ???This seems like Steve Mcmahon all over again.
What complete and utter bollocksMake no mistake: if Barkley stays now it'll be because the board have done a big deal with Barkley and not because Koeman wanted it. The manager wants him out so he can spend the cash on a player he can more easily mould.
This is a high stakes game and a lot of noses will be put out of joint if he stays or goes. The club politics involved here are significant to the future of the club.

OK, my misunderstanding you then. Apologies.
But you said it yourself: Barkley is not obliged to sign a contract or do or say anything. The club have to negotiate...hard and in private until the window is well under way and there's still time to sell him. That may be true but the suggestion that people higher up in the club should go around the manager on playing matters is never the answer. I don't disagree that Koeman's recent comments on the Barkley issue have been inadvisable from a business perspective but on the other hand I can't understand Barkley's current position either. As other posters have said, Barkley is not obliged to sign a contract with us and would be within his rights to run down his contract entirely if that is what he chooses to do, what I can't understand is what he gains from this current stand off, he will get market appropriate (to paraphrase another poster) compensation here or elsewhere either way. Neither Koeman nor Barkley are coming out of this with a great deal of credit IMO.

Massively. At the time Stones first wanted to leave I was not happy, but he essentially left "his" club to make the step up to us so couldn't expect he wouldn't do it again. It's not shocking, it's disappointing. Mainly because he's a blue. Don't bracket him in the same remit as Lukaku and Stones; Lukaku never saw us as home, we were always a stepping stone for him and he admitted so in his first ever interview.
Stones had his head turned by first Chelsea and secondly the option to work under the most sort after coach in the world, nobody is turning that down especially someone who has no affiliation with Everton.
And finally, it's pure speculation that he wants to leave because of any agro or hassle from the club. For all you know it could be to much expectation, family reasons or he's been poached and made promises by other teams.
It's not a spin game, the lad as an offer from Everton Football Club, not Roland Koeman Football Club.
He's a professional footballer who takes far more stick from Evertonians than he does from the manager, trust me
