And he should. If we can't pay a talented, young, homegrown player that is ALREADY on the roster 100k per week then how in the world do we think we are going to attract top talent without the lure of Champions League.

We need to pay up for talent. We may not like it, but that is how it is. Ross believes he is worth 100k/week in this market. Fair to him, i think it may not be quite that high, but if that is the number we need then just get it done. Shows those considering us that we can and will reward good players. This is a must as we need to be looking at bringing in some players who are worth 100k/week.

If Baines/Williams/Bolasie and the like are worth ~75/wk then Ross is worth 100.

If he wants 150 then that is too much. You run the danger of setting a precedent that can be dangerous as then others expect it.

I didn't make the market. I don't like the market. But the team can't pretend that the market has not changed in the last 5 years. We either have to get on with it or get left behind.

We have enough work to do this window, we don't need to complicate it by losing good players.

One of the dumbest things about all this is that we HAVE to spend money in order to adhere to that stupid BS Esk was talking about with the STCC. I don't believe for a minute he's worth anywhere near £150k/week, but it HAS to get spent in order to raise the average weekly output.

That's a good question. The board and the management think Lukaku is irreplaceable? While Barkley is a good player he may ask for a wage similar to the new deal offered to Lukaku? That's my guess.

Things work in both way. I choose to trust Koeman's judgement on this. If the board (I do not believe Kenwright will not try his utmost to convince Ross) does not believe he worths the money then so be it.

Ross will and be a better midfielder in years to come RK to me the juries still out RM had a better first season spending far less and the he flopped - let's see if we may lose our two best players how RK will build a decent team with them gone - I think it inevitable that Lukaku will go for a big fee , but Ross a local talent that imo is a bigger blow!
